Child Labor in Third World Countries

Child labor is a burning issue and affects most of the third world countries. It can cause severe mental and physical torture to a child. Studies show that the poverty and economical issues lead to child labor. The following paper analyses the issue and provides solutions.

Analysis

According to a study, poverty is the main cause of child labor. Most of the third world countries are extremely poor and they do not have enough knowledge about family planning. As a result, the population of third world countries is increasing day by day. Moreover, overpopulation increases food demand hence poor families need to force their children to do hard work for little amount of money. In some cultures, people created caste systems to divide working and ruling communities. For example, the majority of Hindu societies believe that the members of lower castes should work from their childhood instead of going to school. Furthermore, in Bangladesh, most of the people live in rural areas and they do not have enough knowledge about political systems and business. Therefore, they become the victims of corruption. In these countries, governments do not provide sufficient funds for children’s health and education. Also, government agencies and social welfare organizations do not organize seminars that educate people to control high birth rates. This results to population growth hence high probabilities of child labor (Mckenna, 2012).

Main Reasons of Unemployment

Research shows that third world countries do not have enough opportunities for young generations. Most of the educated people face difficulties and challenges to get employed. Therefore, many people do not understand the importance of education. Besides, the governments do not show interests in initiating programs that guide people to improve their lives. Also, the people pay high taxes for their work or business. Hence, they cannot develop their financial status. Moreover, the state governments should take care of their people’s welfare. Medical organizations should guide people to follow healthy ways of life. However, such policies are not available. Hence, people suffer from severe health issues in third world countries. Furthermore, the unemployed people face serious challenges in fulfilling the demands of their families. This results in child labor in the societies (Kalmes, n.d.).

Solutions

International welfare organizations have already discovered various solutions for child labor. These include: government seminars for parents, child education, state’s child development policies and birth control. I think government seminars for parents is the best option because such conferences can help uneducated people to understand the consequences of child labor. This will guide parents to improve their relationship with children. Also, the program will help parents to understand the importance of education. Moreover, experts can guide people in improving their financial conditions by introducing new development schemes. Therefore, I believe that such government seminars and conferences can reduce or prevent child labor (Irigoyen, n.d.).

Conclusion

In conclusion, child labor is a serious issue in third world countries. It causes various mental and health problems to the children. Moreover, the overpopulation, lack of education and high birth rates result in child labor. Also, the corruption and ineffective government policies may increase such issues. Hence, government should try to reduce the unemployment level of third world countries. Furthermore, the caste systems of specific communities may encourage child labor. Therefore, political parties should create campaigns to stop caste systems. In addition, they should organize seminars that guide parents to improve on child care. The government should also create employment opportunities. Thus, the governments of third world countries can reduce then gradually stop child labor.
