Welcome to MyUtsav. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal data with transparency and respect. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and what rights you have over your data when you use the MyUtsav mobile application and its associated services (collectively, the “Platform”).

By downloading, registering for, or using the MyUtsav App, you explicitly acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy and consent to the data practices described herein. If you do not agree, please do not access or use the App.

1. Information We Collect

To deliver our services and provide a personalised community experience, we collect the following categories of information:

A. Personal Information You Provide

When you create an account, request to join a Mandal, or register for an event, we collect:

•        Full Name

•        Mobile Number (used for OTP-based authentication)

•        Email Address

•        Profile Picture (uploaded voluntarily)

If you register as a Mandal Administrator, we additionally collect:

•        Mandal Name, Type, and Description

•        Mandal Contact Details (contact person name, phone number, email)

•        Mandal Physical Address and geographical location

•        Mandal Registration Number (optional)

•        Mandal Logo and Banner Images

•        Founder Name and Year of Establishment (optional)

B. App Activity and Usage Data

We automatically collect certain information about how you interact with the App, including device type and model, operating system version, IP address, app version, screens and features you access, Mandals and events you browse or interact with, and timestamps and duration of sessions.

C. Location Data

With your explicit permission, we collect and process location information to personalise your event discovery experience and show you nearby Mandals and local community events. Specifically, we store your selected or detected city, area, and state, your approximate geographical coordinates (latitude and longitude), and your selected location from our in-app place search.

You can enable or disable location access at any time through your device settings. Disabling location access will limit your ability to discover nearby events and Mandals but will not affect your core access to the Platform.

D. Device Push Notification Token

We collect your device's Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token to deliver timely push notifications to your device related to membership updates, event reminders, and community announcements. This token is specific to your device and may be refreshed periodically by your device's operating system.

E. User-Uploaded Content

Profile photos, Mandal logos, event banners, Mandal-specific member profile pictures, and any other media you voluntarily upload are stored securely on our cloud storage infrastructure (Google Firebase Storage, Asia South 1 — Mumbai region). By uploading content, you confirm that you own or have the necessary rights to share such content.

F. Event Registration Data

When you register for an event, we collect your registration details including your name, phone number, team name (for team events), and any other information required by the Mandal organiser for that specific event.

G. Transaction and Payment Data (Future Feature)

In a future release, where Mandal Administrators subscribe to paid plans or where events require a registration fee collected through the Platform, we will collect transaction-related details necessary to process and record payments. We will never store your credit or debit card numbers, UPI PINs, or bank credentials. All payments will be processed securely through RBI-compliant, certified third-party payment gateways. This section will be updated in detail prior to the activation of any payment features.

H. Advertising Data (Future Feature)

In a future release, MyUtsav may introduce in-app advertising to support the Platform's operations. If and when advertising is introduced, we may collect and share certain non-personally identifiable usage data with advertising partners to deliver contextually relevant advertisements. We will update this Privacy Policy and seek your consent before activating any advertising features. We will never sell your personally identifiable information to advertisers.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

•        To Provide Core Services: To create and manage your account, verify your identity via OTP, and facilitate your participation in community events and Mandals.

•        To Facilitate Community Connections: To process your Mandal join requests and enable Mandal Administrators to manage their communities effectively.

•        To Personalise Your Experience: To display relevant nearby events, Mandals, and community activities based on your location and usage preferences.

•        To Send Notifications: To deliver push notifications and in-app messages related to your memberships, event registrations, and community announcements.

•        To Improve the Platform: To analyse usage trends, identify and fix technical issues, and continuously enhance the features and performance of MyUtsav.

•        For Safety and Fraud Prevention: To detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent activity, spam, abuse, and unauthorised access.

•        For Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable Indian laws and regulations, including responding to lawful government or court requests.

3. How We Share Your Information

We share your information only as described below:

A. With Mandal Administrators and Event Organisers

When you request to join a Mandal or register for an event, we share your relevant profile information — including your Name, Profile Picture, and Phone Number — with the Administrator of that specific Mandal. This sharing is necessary for the Administrator to verify your identity, process your membership request, and manage event logistics.

Important: Once your information is shared with a Mandal Administrator, it is also subject to the privacy practices of that respective organisation. MyUtsav does not control and is not responsible for how individual Mandal Administrators store or handle your personal data beyond the Platform.

B. With Third-Party Service Providers

We share data with trusted third-party vendors who provide essential services on our behalf, including:

•        Google Firebase — User authentication, cloud database (Firestore), file storage, and push notifications

•        Google Maps Platform — Location services, place search, and in-app map display

•        Google Analytics — App usage analytics and performance monitoring

•        Payment Gateway Partners (Future) — Secure processing of subscription fees and event registration payments when introduced

C. For Legal Compliance

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, court order, or in response to valid requests by public authorities, including law enforcement agencies or government bodies in India.

D. Business Transfers

In the event of a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred to the acquiring or successor entity. We will notify you of any such change prior to the transfer.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personally identifiable information to data brokers, marketing companies, or any other third parties for their own commercial purposes.

4. Data Retention and Security

We implement industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure provided by Google Firebase, hosted in the Asia South 1 (Mumbai, India) region, ensuring your data remains within India's jurisdiction. We retain your personal information only for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, or as required to comply with our legal obligations.

5. Your Rights and Data Deletion

In accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and other applicable Indian privacy laws, you have the following rights:

Right to Access and Correction

You can review, update, and correct your personal information at any time by logging into the App and visiting your account profile settings.

Right to Data Portability

You may request a copy of your personal data that we hold by contacting us at myutsav21@gmail.com with the subject line: 'Data Portability Request.'

Right to Withdraw Consent

You may withdraw your consent to specific data processing activities (such as location tracking or push notifications) at any time through your in-app settings or device settings. Withdrawal of consent will not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out prior to the withdrawal.

Right to Account and Data Deletion

You have the right to request the complete deletion of your account and all associated personal data. To exercise this right:

•        Use the 'Delete Account' option within the App's Settings menu, or

•        Email us at myutsav21@gmail.com with the subject line: 'Account Deletion Request'

Upon receipt of a valid deletion request, we will permanently delete your profile, Mandal memberships, event registrations, uploaded content, notification data, and FCM tokens from our active systems within a reasonable period. Data may be retained only where required by applicable law or for fraud prevention purposes.

6. Push Notifications

By registering on the Platform, you consent to receiving push notifications for:

•        Membership approval, rejection, and status updates

•        Event reminders (the day before and the day of an event)

•        Event cancellation alerts

•        Mandal registration approval or rejection

•        Platform-wide community announcements

You may opt out of push notifications at any time through your device's notification settings (Settings → Apps → MyUtsav → Notifications). Opting out will not affect your access to in-app notifications.

7. Children's Privacy

The MyUtsav App is strictly intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect, solicit, or process personally identifiable information from individuals under the age of 18. If we become aware that a minor has registered on the Platform without parental consent, we will immediately deactivate the account and permanently delete all associated data. If you believe that a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at myutsav21@gmail.com.

8. Third-Party Links and Services

The Platform may display links to third-party websites, social media pages, or other external services. This Privacy Policy applies solely to the MyUtsav App and Platform. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or data handling of any third-party services. We strongly encourage you to review the privacy policies of any external services you access through or in connection with the App.

9. Future Features — Notice of Policy Updates

MyUtsav is an evolving platform. We plan to introduce additional features in the future, including Mandal Subscription Plans (paid subscription tiers for Mandal Administrators), In-App Advertising (contextually relevant advertisements to support the Platform's sustainability), and Payment Processing (integrated payment collection for event registration fees and subscriptions).

Before any of these features are activated, we will update this Privacy Policy, provide you with clear and prominent notice within the App, and where required by law, seek your fresh consent. You will always have the right to review and accept or decline updated terms before they take effect.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices, services, or applicable laws. We will notify you of material changes by updating the 'Last Updated' date at the top of this document and sending an in-app notification where appropriate. Your continued use of the App following the posting of any revised Privacy Policy constitutes your acceptance of those changes. If you do not agree with the revised policy, you must discontinue your use of the App.

11. Grievance Officer

In accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, any grievances or questions regarding this Privacy Policy or the handling of your personal data may be directed to our designated Grievance Officer:
