Workshop on Digital Forensics and Cyber Crime (3 Sept 2022)
I was glad to be a part a 1-day Workshop on Digital Forensics and Cyber Crime, of organised by the Center for Cryptography, Cyber Security & Digital forensics (C3-SDF) of LNMIIT.
It was cyber security awareness program aiming to provide a great platform for faculty, researchers, students and non-teaching staff to upgrade their knowledge in the area of recent emerging technologies on Digital forensics and Cyber Crime to strengthen the regulatory framework and create a secure cyberspace ecosystem. The speaker was Mr. Gurcharan Singh, Faculty Member for Cyber Crimes, Central Detective Training Institute, Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs. This seminar inspired me to write detailed notes of the workshop and also conduct my own amateur level research in OSINT and Digital Forensics, named CCAF.
SPACE 22 (18 - 22 Dec 2022)
SPACE or International Conference for Security Privacy and Applied Cryptographic Engineering, 2022, was held at our college at LNMIIT (8 Dec - 12 Dec 2022). It was sponsored by companies like TCS, IBM, Safe Security, DSCI. I was a volunteer there, representing LNMIIT. I worked with proper co-ordination with researchers/professors coming from all over the world from USA, Singapore, Netherlands, Belgium, Spain. I connected with most of them about their fields like Concepts of Zero Day, Cryptography, Reverse Engineering, etc. I was also given customized swags.
LNMHacks (Jan 2023 - Present)
I am currently a part of the LNMHacks Organizing Committee (OC) and Public Relations (PR) team. LNMHacks is a 72-hour hackathon-conference-workshops. LNMHacks 5.0 and 6.0 had a participation of innovators and developers from all over the nation. LNMHacks 4.0 was also a highly successful event, with over 1200+ registrations, and witnessing the submission of 80+ innovative projects on our partner platform.
I regularly worked in bringing sponsors onboard, calling/emailing them. Also using my over 4000+ connections on LinkedIn for doing the same. I connected with different communities mainly regarding to Cybersecurity and Web 3.0. The complete arrangements were made. I was also the lead of the LNMHacks Social Media Team. We all worked and coordinated together as a team (or community). These experiences helped me develop skills of interaction, management, and building leadership qualities along with alot of connections.
Antisyphon Blue Team Summit 2023 (23 - 25 Aug 2023)
I attended the Antisyphon Blue Team Summit from 23-25 Aug 2023 and was provided with a free summit pass.
The summit heavily focused on enhancing Blue Team capabilities by encouraging professionals to adopt an attacker’s mindset. This approach helps defenders anticipate potential threats and improve defensive strategies, strengthening overall security posture.
Participants engaged in practical training sessions related to threat hunting, incident response, and malware analysis. These workshops emphasized real-world scenarios, providing attendees with practical experience in handling cyber incidents effectively.
The summit highlighted cutting-edge defensive tools and techniques for countering emerging cyber threats. There were sessions on OSINT (Open Source Intelligence), cyber deception, and forensic investigations, offering valuable insights for proactive defense measures.
A key theme was fostering collaboration within the cybersecurity community. The event encouraged knowledge sharing among participants, helping Blue Team professionals stay updated with the latest industry trends and defensive tactics.
MITRE ATT&CKCon 4.0 (24 - 25 Oct 2023)
MITRE ATT&CKcon 4.0, held on October 24-25, 2023, brought together cybersecurity professionals from diverse sectors to delve into the practical applications of the MITRE ATT&CK framework. The event featured thought leaders and experts sharing insights on the framework's evolution over the past decade, and how it continues to impact the cybersecurity landscape.
The key takeaways included presentations on community collaboration, real-world case studies showing how ATT&CK has been integrated into defence strategy, and applied tools for using the framework to build up cybersecurity resilience. It was also an opportunity to network and hold workshops to further explore adversary tactics and defense mechanisms.
The conference aimed to grow both novice and seasoned practitioners by providing them with a space to share their knowledge among the stakeholders of the private sector, academia, and governance representatives, thus, an important location for any individual who wishes to stay abreast of the change in cybersecurity.
eBPF Summit 2024 (11 Sept 2024)
The eBPF Summit 2024, held on September 11, is a premier virtual event showcasing the evolving landscape of the Extended Berkeley Packet Filter (eBPF) ecosystem. The summit brings together experts, enthusiasts, and contributors to discuss the transformative potential of eBPF in networking, security, and observability. This year, attendees explored cutting-edge use cases, including next-generation infrastructure tools built on eBPF, and heard visionary talks on its future applications in solving complex engineering challenges.
The summit involved deep technical dives and hands-on challenges all aimed at creating learning through real-world experience. Large doses of insight included the ways in which eBPF is revolutionizing kernel-level performance monitoring, traffic filtering, and security strategies. Also, the ways in which open-source projects are using eBPF to be innovative in various sectors - after all, the adoption does seem to be ramping up pretty fast.
IDCSS - Indo Dutch Cybersecurity School 2024 (14 Oct - 4 Nov 2024)
The Indo-Dutch Cyber Security School (IDCSS) 2024 is a collaborative initiative between Indian and Dutch organizations, offering a unique platform for students and young professionals to advance their cybersecurity expertise. The program is conducted by DSCI (Data Security Council of India), and due to my active participation in various DSCI programs, hackathons, and events, I was awarded a full scholarship to attend IDCSS. Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence, Telangana, partnered with the Hague Centre for Strategic Studies, the Municipality of Hague, the Embassy of Netherlands, and the Govt of Telangana to conduct IDCSS for students and young professionals from both countries.
The school features a blend of expert-led lectures, action-based online learning, and interactive exercises that delve into critical areas such as AI in cybersecurity, digital forensics, and quantum computing risks. One of the key highlights is the Strategic Cyber Resilience Game, where participants tackle real-world cybersecurity scenarios, honing their strategic and problem-solving skills. With nearly 2000 participants, IDCSS promotes global collaboration and offers an invaluable opportunity for academic and professional growth in the field of cybersecurity.
