Do you know?
Children learning by Montessori are taught the alphabet by the sounds they make. Instead of learning the letter C by its name, “see”, children learn it by how it will sounds when read, “kuh”
BEGINNER LEVEL 2
An imperative part of learning to read is understanding how to blend letters. When a child understands how to pronounce letters together, they are better able to make words. The main goal of this module is to build a strong foundation in blending.
The child will be taught how to blend 2 sounds together first. And the last sound will be added in shortly. In this module, we will focus on 3 letter consonant-vowel-consonant (CVC) words with a short vowel. A handful of high frequency words will be introduced too at the end of the module. Simple books will be in-cooperated in too.
Do you know?
A child taught traditionally will read the word CAT as “see-ay-tee” and then have to translate those names to the sound they make. By skipping the letter name, a Montessori taught child will immediately read it as “kuh-aah-tuh” and can infer that it sounds like the word cat.
ADVANCED LEVEL 3
We will begin to introduce consonant blends while retaining that short vowel/phonetic element. This module introduces children to words with consonant digraph and phonograms. The child will read a book in every lesson too. Simple comprehension will be taught too.

When two or more consonants are blended together but each sound may be heard in the blend.” Examples of blue series words include “crib,” “brush,” and “clap.”
ADVANCED LEVEL 4
With a strong foundation in reading, this module helps the student to progress quickly to decode phonograms and gain a better skill of comprehension. By the end of the module, the child can independently read unfamiliar words.
Do you know?
Unlike blends, in which you can hear the sound of each letter, phonograms are letter combinations that create a new sound. The phonograms include “ee,” “oa,” “ai,” “oy,” and “th.”
