Artist Note _Young Ahn
I focus on the boundary of places, things, situations, etc. The border of images is not only the end of the painting but also the starting area to extend into space. I would like to put on my canvas a room between a symbol and things that are not symbols, a relation between things that are drawn and omitted, or a contradiction of time that had already passed by and a future that will not come forever. I draw my drawing which I have on my mind. Images that are randomly chosen, deleted, left out, and rearranged create a completely different landscape on canvas. I want the images to get purity in my canvas regardless of their memories of space, history of time, and previous ideas. Moreover, I want them to induce the sense and emotion of the beholder beyond their own concepts or meanings. The unfamiliar landscapes make a new space, relationship, and contradiction as well as a new idea of commonness. I hope we can meet there.
