Having a routine is key to making your “preschool day” successful. When your children’s daily activities are predictable and familiar (not rigid), they feel more confident and secure. They will respond better to learning time if they can come to expect it and recognize it.
But it is important to note that although some children love to know what is planned next, others may be more of a free spirit. The beautiful part about being able to learn at home is that you can determine which way works best. Think of it as an experiment, start out with a schedule, see how your child reacts and adjust accordingly.
Perhaps the greatest benefit for having a routine for children during this pandemic, is that a routine offers stability and something constant for children when times are often uncertain and uncontrollable. When you create a routine, you help to instill a sense of normality in your child’s life and ease the stress of the outside world. Happy Learning!
