I have always had a deep passion for teaching, especially in the field of Health and Physical Education. Growing up, I was constantly inspired by my mom, who is an educator herself. I would often stay after school to learn from her and watch her positively impact the lives of her students. Her dedication and the joy she found in teaching shaped my desire to follow in her footsteps. I am eager to make a similar impact on my future students as a Health and PE educator.
My approach to creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment will focus on a universal design for learning. I believe that every student learns in their own unique way, whether through visual aids, hands-on activities, or a combination of methods. It is important to me that I create a space where all students can succeed and feel comfortable expressing themselves. To achieve this, my classroom will be well-organized and visually stimulating, with materials like a MyPlate poster, affirmations, healthy hygiene habits, and information about what to do if you feel sick. These resources will not only be informative but will also reinforce the lessons we are learning in class.
I am passionate about incorporating guided notes and interactive activities that give students a reason to stay engaged while completing assignments. This approach will allow them to stay focused on the content and develop a deeper understanding of the material. In addition, I plan to hold my students to high expectations, but in a way that is achievable and encourages growth. I firmly believe that when students develop confidence in themselves and in the class, their performance improves across the board.
Building meaningful connections with my students is one of my top priorities. I plan to do monthly check-ins to understand how they are progressing, both academically and personally. This will help me learn more about how they learn best and allow me to adjust my teaching strategies to ensure their success. By being involved in their growth, I will be able to support them in and out of the classroom, helping them build life skills that will serve them well in the future.
As a future educator, I understand the importance of supporting all students, especially those with special needs. I will attend 504 and IEP meetings to advocate for students who require additional support. I want to ensure that every student, regardless of their challenges, has the resources and encouragement they need to succeed in my class. In addition to supporting their academic needs, I also plan to attend students' extracurricular activities, such as concerts and athletic events, to show that I am fully invested in their growth and well-being.
Ultimately, I hope to be that teacher who creates a safe and supportive environment where students feel comfortable approaching me for anything. Whether they need help with an assignment, advice, or just someone to talk to, I want my students to know that I care deeply about them and their futures. I want to be more than just an educator; I want to be a mentor and a positive influence in their lives. My passion for teaching Health and PE is rooted in my belief that physical well-being and emotional growth are essential for success in life, and I am excited to guide my students through this important journey.
