Welcome! My name is Melena Walter, and I am currently completing my teacher preparation in Health and Physical Education. My journey into education began at a young age, inspired by my mother an incredible educator whose passion for teaching left a lasting impression on me. Watching her connect with students and make a real difference sparked my desire to pursue this same path.
I’ve always believed that education is more than delivering content; it’s about shaping minds and building confidence. My academic focus is on inclusive and responsive teaching strategies rooted in Universal Design for Learning (UDL). I’ve spent time designing lesson plans that integrate visual learning tools, interactive movement-based activities, and affirming classroom visuals that make all students feel welcome and valued.
Throughout my studies, I’ve prioritized creating supportive spaces that celebrate diversity, learning styles, and personal growth. I take pride in setting high expectations while offering the guidance and encouragement students need to thrive inside the classroom and beyond it. Whether it’s through guided notes, monthly check-ins, or showing up for their extracurricular achievements, I want every student to feel seen, supported, and challenged to be their best.
My professional preparation includes attending IEP and 504 meetings to advocate for students with special needs, participating in field experiences across diverse schools, and completing coursework in adolescent development, assessment, and instructional technology.
