General
The Mt Wallace State Model Aircraft Field is owned by the national body, the Model Aeronautical Association of Australia (MAAA,) managed by the state body, the Victorian Model Aeronautical Association (VMAA) and operated by us, the Mt Wallace Model Aircraft Association (MWMAA). Its purpose is to provide a first class facilty not only for the club, but for all aero-modellers throughout the state and country. It is one of 4 Victorian state fields - these provide essential facilities for modelers, especially as urban encroachment continues to absorb club facilties. It hosts various special interest group events, public events aimed at bringing new people to the sport, as well as welcoming visitors when they wish to fly at the field.
Facilities
The list of main facilties is here and you can access the weather station data here.
Because of the large runway and water area the field can support all types of flying including jets (not in the summer) and float planes.
Development of the facilities since the field's inception in 2016 has been a combined effort from all of the MAAA, VMAAA and us, the MWMAA.. Funding, apart from the above organisations, has also been secured by the club from a variety of local community funding sources, which we are are very fortunate to have access to (see the sponsors on the homepage).
History
The club has a long and rich history which you can read about here. Originally we were the Bacchus Marsh Model Aircraft Association, before moving to Mt Wallce to develop the new state field.
Location
The field is located at 187 Brisbane Ranges Road, Mt Wallace, Victoria. If you are a visitor, you must make contact with the club before visiting - see also visitors.
