We're thrilled to announce that our school is participating in the Roger Rees Awards for Excellence in High School Musical Theater, a regional competition that celebrates the best of student theatrical talent. This is your chance to be recognized for your hard work and maybe even land a spot at the national Jimmy Awards!
The Roger Rees Awards has a category for every kind of theater enthusiast:
Outstanding Performer: Students in eligible roles in our Spring Musical will be adjudicated by 3 three theater educators/professionals. The students who score the two highest scores will be chosen to represent our school at the regional level, and could even go on to compete on a Broadway stage at the national Jimmy Awards!
New Faces Honors: This category is completely separate from the musical and allows students to show off their talents in one of 3 categories: Acting, Dance, or Voice. All video submissions are reviewed by a team of 20 working casting directors who pick the top students to be featured in each category. Winning artists participate in a workshop in their chosen discipline taught by casting directors and Broadway performers!
Student Reporter: Calling all aspiring journalists, writers, and content creators! This is your chance to go behind the scenes and share the story of the Roger Rees Awards. You'll interview performers, document the journey, and create content for the official website and social media. More information on how to submit is coming soon.
Scenic and Costume Designer Showcase: Have your design work featured at the 25/26 Roger Rees Awards! More information on how to submit is coming soon.
Don't miss out on this incredible opportunity to celebrate your talent and hard work. Talk to Mr. Kaplan or visit the Drama Club Google Classroom for more information on how to apply.Â
