Starting my sophomore year of high school, I was a player in Maryvale High School's Touring Guitar Ensemble. In this ensemble, the group and myself would learn and shape compositions so that we could travel around the world performing for people. Some of our proudest events include the World Strides Heritage Festival in Washington D.C. and the ABODA Guitar Festival in Arizona. Being a part of a group taught me teamwork and leadership. Both of which are skills I will apply to other groups now and thereafter.
Joining a rigorous group like Touring Guitar set the bar for musical performance, a bar that I made a goal to reset. During my senior year, I earned the position of conductor. Quickly, my responsibilities of managing people in the ensemble, privately working with my peers, selecting music, arranging our basic interpretation of a composition, and most importantly leading and inspiring our ensemble turned out to really introduce me to the real world. If you were to ask me my favorite and most important time in high school, Touring Guitar would be my choice. Below you will see the absolute blast of a time I've had with this ensemble since I joined.
