I am honored to serve as the Superintendent of Martha's Vineyard Public Schools. Before my Superintendency, I was the assistant superintendent of Martha's Vineyard Schools and principal (as well as vice principal) at Martha's Vineyard Regional High School. Before administration, I taught English in grades 9-12. My educational background includes a B.S. in Education from Lesley University, MA. in Curriculum and Instruction from Lesley University, C.A.G.S. in Educational Leadership from Bridgewater State University, and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Boston College.
In today’s society, our students must be able to succeed in a diverse global economic world, be prepared to make informed ethical decisions and engage in lifelong learning. It is important to continue our work of sustaining schools where a strong collaboration of learning focuses on meeting the social, emotional, and academic needs of all students and where all decisions are made in the best interest of our students. As a district leader, it is essential to inspire educators to have high expectations of student growth and empower them to work collaboratively toward a shared purpose of student learning.
I am impressed with the high level of collaboration and interdependence of the MV students, staff, families, administrators, and community members. Everyone has a role to play in developing a committed common vision of equity, access, and success for all students. Together, we must continue to encourage a culture of a collaborative learning community that focuses on continuous improvement and optimizes each student’s potential. I must lead by example, working to maintain mutual trust and respect, while modeling integrity, commitment, accountability, and transparency. I look forward to the opportunity to continue the collective work of school, community, and family partnerships.
