We need your help to enrich the MVPS experience for your kids! Through field trips, special events, and fundraisers, we want to give students and families the opportunity to build community and make memories that will last a lifetime. But we can't do that without YOU!
Each area committee is made up of at least two volunteers (MVPS families & staff). Committees will work under the guidance of their Area Representative to plan and support activities and events for MVPS students. Committee sign ups will be held quarterly (some committees may be active the entire semester or school year, depending on the event/activity they are working on ).
*Not all committees may be active at once - the committee must have at least TWO members for it to be active, so invite your friends to sign up too!
Plan and carry out school-wide events (can be local or for the entire MVPS school), fundraisers, and staff appreciation efforts throughout the year. These activities bring our community together while also supporting our school in meaningful ways. Examples include:
Teacher appreciation
Restaurant spirit nights
Fundraising initiatives (1-2 per year)

This committee plays an important role in creating memorable experiences for students and families while helping raise funds and show support for our amazing staff.
Bring learning to life by planning local school outings and group activities that connect directly to what our students are learning. This includes hands-on, educational experiences such as:
Historical character wax museum
Maker’s market
Career exploration visits (like fire stations)

Many of these opportunities are inspired by topics already included in our students’ coursework, allowing kids to experience learning in a real-world, social setting alongside their peers. Some can work toward the HGSS projects students do for the state assessments!
Build connection and community by helping MVPS staff plan fun, inclusive social activities for students and families in your area. These events are centered around relationship-building and shared experiences such as:
Back to School Night Activities
Seasonal celebrations
End of Year celebration
Support MVPS Student Council events

Our goal is to make it easy for every family to get involved in ways that fit their interests, schedules, and strengths. Here are some answers to common questions about joining an MVPS PTO committee!
The time commitment depends on the committee and the projects or events you choose to support. As a committee member, you'll help decide what to event or project to work on, how you'd like to contribute, and how much time you can give. Our goal is to share the work so everyone can participate in a way that fits their schedule, and no one has to do it all!
Committees are formed with other area MVPS PTO volunteers and will meet on an as-needed basis. They may choose to meet in person, or online, depending on what works best for the committee members. The structure will vary depending on the committee's projects and activities. You are encouraged, but not required, to attend monthly online PTO meetings.
Not necessarily! Some committees may work on projects throughout a semester or school year, while others may focus on specific events during one term. When you sign up for a committee, you are only committing for that term.
Yes! Each term, committees will choose an event or project to work on. Most committees will focus on one event or activity at a time. Committees can decide how simple or big they want to make it based on available funds, volunteers, and time to plan.
We understand that family schedules change. Our goal is to create flexible opportunities for participation. Let your committee know what you are able to contribute so the team can plan accordingly.
Yes, you are welcome to join as many committees as you are interested in. It is up to you how you contribute within each committee.
Yes, many committee responsibilities involve planning and organizing, not just attending events. There are many behind-the-scenes tasks that may match your interests and availability.
Tasks may include brainstorming ideas, planning activities, coordinating event details, organizing materials, supporting fundraisers, or helping bring educational and social experiences to life. Specific responsibilities will depend on the committee and the projects/events they choose to coordinate. Committees can also recruit other volunteers to help with the events & activities. Our goal is to share the work so everyone can participate in a way that fits their schedule, and no one has to do it all
Yes! These committees are an opportunity to bring your ideas, interests, and strengths to the team. Share your suggestions and work with other volunteers to explore what is possible.
Each area committee is made up of at least two area volunteers (MVPS families & staff). Committees will work under the guidance of their Area Representative to plan and support activities and events for MVPS students. The Area Representative will also approve any committee plans and budget before submitting a funds request to the PTO.
Sign-ups take place during quarterly sign-up periods. After signing up, MVPS PTO will contact you by email and/or text with information about connecting with your committee.
Each committee needs at least two volunteers in the same area to become active, so encourage your friends to join a committee with you! If you are the only one to sign up, the PTO will contact you and give you some other options for ways you can volunteer until the next committee sign up period.
Each committee helps plan activities within its focus area. All expenses must be approved by both the President and Treasurer, or by a majority vote when required. Area Representatives and committees may help organize fundraising activities but must follow PTO financial procedures. They may not independently manage, distribute, or deposit PTO funds outside of established procedures.
If your circumstances change, reach out to your Area Representative or PTO board to discuss which opportunities might be a better fit.
That's exactly why we're building committees! You don't have to do everything. Whether you can help with one event, share a skill, contribute ideas, or participate in projects throughout the year, we want you to have opportunities to contribute in ways that work for you.
