Our HOA is divided geographically into 10 sub-areas, called Increments. Each Increment has a Delegate representing it.

California Fire Hazard Severity Zone Maps
The State has evaluated its entire geography in terms of how much of a Hazard of Wildfire each point on the map has.

Along with many safety codes that have been formulated into law in California, many new safety codes specifically related to wildfire and homes have come into effect recently. These affect maintaining, altering, and buying and selling of homes.

All kinds of physical hazards are taken into account by home insurance companies in offering policies to homeowners and pricing those policies - earthquake, flood, fire, and so on. Wildfire has become a major factor in these calculations. It can even affect whether the insurer will offer home insurance on a property at all.

The process of inspecting your property and home, and evaluating risks from wildfire, and making changes to reduce those risks, is called Home Hardening. This is discussed on other pages.

From the Fire Hazard Severity Zone Maps, it is possible to see that a large portion of our local Fire Hazard Severity Zones are centered on City property - parks and open spaces. The City understands that these areas contribute to the Wildfire Risk in the City. The City has made plans to address some of this risk.
