MUTBI is an initiative of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), an Institution of Eminence, and is supported by National Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB), Government of India, to provide incubation services to students, faculty members, alumni and outsiders. MUTBI encourages people to start their own venture, nurture entrepreneurship skills, create self-employment, product development and manufacturing in line with the social objectives of Government of India. MUTBI is operational since 2010 and it focuses on thrust areas like InfoTech, HealthTech, AgriTech, and CleanTech. MUTBI provides pre-incubation, incubation, seed support, NIDHI-EIR fellowship, NIDHI-PRAYAS grant, and MAHE extends its laboratory facilities to startups. Various activities/programs conducted by MUTBI are supported by NSTEDB, Venture Center Pune, SINE Mumbai, MSME, and MAHE.

Awareness session on NIDHI-EIR & NIDHI-PRAYAS
MUTBI has organized an awareness session on, NIDHI-EIR & NIDHI-PRAYAS, DST, Govt. of India funded programs on 5 January 2022 through virtual mode. Dr.Shrihari Upadhyaya, CEO, MUTBI & Dr. Santhosha Rao, AGM, MUTBI gave brief insights about these funded programs. Mr. Ravirama Swamy, Former Senior Director, Health Syatems, PHILIPS delivered a talk on Commercialization of products. Mr. Mayur Shetty, CEO, Balckfrog Technologies, Incubated startup of MUTBI shared challenges in product development faced by his startup. Faculty, students, and research scholars of various institutions of MAHE & other Institutions, founders of startups, attended the program.
Introductory session - Workshop on Technology considerations for startups
MUTBI has organised an introductory session on Technology considerations for startups for the aspirants who are willing to begin SaaS based startups on 31 January 2022. Importance of database management, programming techniques, cloud infrastructure, IP management & commercialization are highlighted as part of the session. Mr. Sandeep Patil, CEO, Applied Cognition Systems, Bengaluru as the resource person. Faculty, students, and research scholars of various institutions of MAHE & other Institutions, founders of startups, attended the program.
Talk on Intellectual Property Rights
Manipal Academy of Higher Education in association with Innovation Center, and Manipal Universal Business Incubator (MUTBI) have jointly organized a talk on Intellectual Property Rights by Mr. Parvez Kudroli, Principal Associate, Khurana & Khurana on 9th Febraury 2022 in virual mode.
Workshop on Technology considerations for startups
Manipal Universal Technology Business Incubator in association with Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal has organized an online workshop on Technology Considerations for startups for the benefit of the aspirants who are willing to start SaaS based startups on 21st, 23rd, 28th of February and 4th March 2022.
The sessions about Programming Techniques and Database management were held on 21st March 2022. Mr. Sandeep Patil, CEO, Applied Cognition Systems, the resource person for the session highlighted the importance of programming techniques and database management for the SaaS based startups. On 23rd , Dr. Kripa Jalapathy, Founder and Director of Adjukines delivered a talk on IP protection and Digital Dilemma and Mr. Praveen Kumar Kalbavi, Founder and MD, Novigo Solutions stressed upon the importance of technology commercialization. On 28th, Prof. Sreepathy H V, Faculty of Manipal School of Information Sciences gave insights on Cloud Infrastructure and Mr. Chethan G S, Founding Director, PharmIT, Bengaluru highlighted the significance of UI/UX design. The interested candidates presented their proposals on 4th March 2022 and got the feedback from Jury members Mr. Sandeep Patil, Mr. Praveen Kumar Kalbavi and Prof. Ashwath Anand Rao, Business Advisor, MUTBI.
Awarenss program on Atomic Force Microscope (AFM)
Manipal Universal Business Incubator (MUTBI), Manipal Institute of Technology and Central Instrumentation Facility, MAHE Manipal have jointly organized an Awareness session on Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) on 14th March 2022. Dr. Vishwanath Managuli, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Mechanical & Manufacturing Engg., MIT, manipal was the resource person. Topics such as basics of AFM, Imaging modes, and applications in different streams of Science and Engineering were covered as part of the workshop.Faculty, students, and research scholars of various institutions of MAHE & other Institutions attended the program.
Awareness session on Technology Entrepreneurship
Manipal Universal Technology Business Incubator (MUTBI) in association with MIT Manipal has organized an Awareness session on Technology Entrepreneurship for the benefit of PG students of MIT Manipal on 16th March 2022. Dr. Mohammad Zuber, Assistant Director (Innovation & Incubation), MIT Manipal delivered the opening remarks. Dr. Y Shrihari Upadhyaya, CEO, MUTBI stressed upon the importance of Technology Entreprenurship to the PG students. Cdr. (Dr.) Anil Rana, Director, MIT Manipal delivered the concluding remarks. The session was moderated by Dr. Santhosha Rao, AGM, MUTBI.
Manipal Entrepreneurship Summit
MAHE organized 5th Manipal Entrepreneurship Summit during 17 March - 2nd April 2022 with the support of MIT, Innovation Center, MUTBI, and Manipal-GoK Bioincubator. As part of this, there were keynote addresses, panel discussions, story telling, and display of the innovative projects.
Entreprenurial Insights - Series 5
Office of Corporate Relations, MAHE and MUTBI jointly organized an interaction with sustained entrepreneur Mr. Sandeep Patil, CEO, Applied Cognition Systems, Bengaluru on 1 June 2022, as part of Entrepreneurial Insights program. Faculty, students, research scholars of various institutions of MAHE & other Institutions, and founders of startups attended the program.
World Entreprenurs' Day Program
Manipal Group of Institutions and Incubators have jointly organized World Entreprenurs' Day (WED) on 23 August 2022. WED is celebrated every year on 21 August with the objective to create awareness about Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Leadership. In conversation with Ms. Ashu Suyash & Ms. Vandana Rajadhyaksha, Founders of Colossa Ventures LLP was held as part of this program. Lt. Gen (Dr.) M D Venkatesh, Vice Chancellor, MAHE presided the program & Ms. Shruthi Pai, Director, MEMG, Bengaluru was the Guest of Honor.
Program on Creating And Developing youR Enterprise (CADRE)
Manipal Universal Technology Business Incubator has organized its first edition of program on Creating And Developing youR Enterprise (CADRE) on 3rd December 2022. Mr. Harish B, Primier Investments, Udupi delivered a talk on Learnings from Indian Corporates. Dr. Raviraja, Directorate of Corporate Relations, MAHE , talked about Product development & Licesnsing. Mr. Mayur Shetty, CEO, Balckfrog Technologies, Incubatee @ MUTBI shared the journey of Blackfrog Technologies. Dr. Y Shrihari Upadhyaya shared the journey of 4 decades of leading IT company - InfoSys and delivered his closing remarks. About 24 aspirants attended the program.

NIDHI-PRAYAS
DST-National initiative for Developing and Harnessing Innovation(NIDHI) - PRomoting and Accelerating Young and ASpiring technology entrepreneurs (PRAYAS) is specifically to support young innovators turn their ideas into PoC. The Program aims at providing prototype funding to convert idea into prototype to young and aspiring innovators. The maximum funding support to an innovator/startup will be upto 10 lakhs.
MUTBI has supported 11 candidates with Rs. 1 Cr.
NIDHI-EIR
NIDHI's Entrepreneurs-in-Residence(EIR) Programme is one of the programs introduced under NIDHI to inspire the best talents to be entrepreneurs, to minimise the risk involved in pursuing start- ups, and to partially set off their opportunity costs of high paying jobs. The NIDHI-EIR programme provides tremendous opportunities for innovative entrepreneurs to expand their networks and get critical feedback on their ventures in order to promote their entrepreneurial career goals and aspirations. During ongoing Call-4, MUTBI has supported 11 candidates.
•Mr.Nikesh Kumar Jain, Call-2 graduate onboarded 500 users for his NutriCal platform.
• Microdegree, startup incorporated by Mr. Rakesh, Call-2 graduate, secured first place in Mangaluru Blue Startup competition at Technovanza held on 16 Dec 2022

Blackfrog Technologies Pvt Ltd
Won the “Best product against COVID-19” award, conferred by Honorable Chief Minister Shri Basavaraj S. Bommai, Honorable Minister of Commerce and Industries Shri Piyush Goyal, and Dr.C.N. Ashwath Narayan held on 18 November 2022.
Recieved the grant of Rs. 24.1 lakh from BIRAC, Rs. 16 lakh from Coimbatore Innovation, and Rs. 10 lakh from IRD Delhi.
Recieved Rs. 1.35 Cr investment from MEMG, Bengaluru.
eSamudaay Digital Services Pvt Ltd
Collaborated with Jal Samudaay for a water conservation project, co-sponsored by Udupi Chamber of Commerce.
