Teaching Philosophy
My approach as a private violin teacher is rooted in fostering a holistic understanding of music, where productive practice methods take precedence over number of hours spent with the instrument. I believe that developing effective problem-solving skills in my students not only enhances their musical abilities but also equips them with invaluable tools applicable to all areas of life.Â
While technical proficiency is certainly important, I place equal emphasis on nurturing a genuine curiosity and appreciation for music, aiming to instill a lifelong passion rather than mere mastery of violin technique. Beyond traditional classical repertoire, I encourage exploration across a wide spectrum of musical genres, including jazz, modern pop, video game and movie soundtracks, Disney melodies, contemporary Christian worship, and the tunes of the 1940s and 50s. By tapping into students' innate exploratory instincts, I strive to create an environment where each student feels empowered to express themselves creatively and develop a deep connection with the music they play. Through this approach, I aspire to not only cultivate skilled violinists but also well-rounded individuals who carry their love for music with them wherever they go.
