Please listen to this song and start to learn the words. What is the song about? What message does it tell us? Can you draw a picture to match some of the sentences in the song? We will be singing this next term in our Winter Concert.
We have started to learn about dynamics. Remember, dynamics means the volume. Sometimes we can create loud sounds (forte), sometimes soft (piano) and sometimes it is in between (mezzo).
1) Watch the video telling the story of The Napping House. Are there times in the story when it is quiet or loud? How does the volume change towards the end?
2) Act out the story while the video plays. Remember to do the quiet (piano) sounds and the loud (forte) noises when everyone wakes up!
Today, let's focus on keeping a steady beat. Sing along with the Grump Face song again but this time can you clap your hands or tap your knees in time to the steady beat. Try out other ideas such as stomping to the beat, jumping to the beat, skipping to the beat etc. If you have an instrument, use it to play along with a steady beat.
Record yourself! If you want to record a video of you singing and tapping a steady beat to the song then send it to me. 😀
Activity 1: Move along to the rhythm of the Hall of the Mountain King
Use the rhythms on these pages to move along to the Hall of the Mountain King by Edvard Grieg. You can use this link to find the music.
Activity 2: Watch the video of the London Symphony Orchestra playing In the Hall of the Mountain King. What instruments can you spot? What happens to the tempo (speed) and dynamics (volume)? Can you describe the movements of the conductor?
