Sagebrush were originally formed in Louth, in 1962 as a trio, soon to add girl singer Jean.
Performing in Pubs in Grimsby-Louth areas. Playing only Country music.
Having become more popular by 1965 thanks to the great singing of Johnny Sutherland and Jean Banks.
Sagebrush with a new line up, were now performing all over Lincolnshire-West Yorkshire.

Dixiefried-Formed in the mid 70s. A trio playing Country and Rock-a-Billy in Grimsby and
North Lincs. area. Featured the boy wonder drummer Lenny Dales together with Iain Young
on Bass and Vocals-Mel Willerton the superb finger picking guitarist both ex. Sagebrush.
Dixiefried recorded 5 tracks at Les Allens Humber Records studio, one track can be heard
on Youtube, log on with-Dixiefried Country Boys Dream-to hear this. They also recorded
a Live Radio half hour show at Quible part Hull, in the mid. 70s? Anyone out there have a copy?
Formed in the late 70s early 80s Reddy Teddy, playing Rock a Billy and Country.
A trio with Iain Young vocals and Bass-EX Ravin’Rupert superb guitarist, Steve Wright-
with the great, Basher Bill Allenby on drums. Performing in the Grimsby and Scunthorpe area.

Coming together in the early 80s playing in the Grimbsy-Cleethorpes pubs and clubs for the
next 2 or 3 years, named-TRUCKStOP- performing Country music, with some wonderful guitar
Instrumentals from ace guitarist Brian Hockly, line up included Iain Young vocal-Bill Allenby-Drums
and the magical Dave Ward on Bass Guitar

Grimsby rock group 1960-61.Tony Farrow, Brian Sinclare, Brian Darley and Dusty Rhoades.
Firechild
Formed in 1989 originally with a different Bass player (Steve Robbins) Firechild played locally in Grimsby and Cleethorpes,
including support slots with Wolfsbane and Excalibur at the Winter Gardens, before recording their first demo, a track of which,
‘Vampire’, got played on BBC Radio One’s Friday Rock Show in 1991, and was submitted for the film ‘Interview with the Vampire’,
losing out to Guns n’ Roses version of the Rolling Stones ‘Sympathy for the Devil’.
The band split up in 1991 and despite the unsuccessful song submitted for the film a few years after they broke up, in 2005
Steven had one of his songs used in a TV Advert featuring supermodel Kate Moss, which was a nice break after playing for peanuts
as a street musician and in local bands, which began with a support slot with Marillion at the Central Hall in 1982,
and on to local bands that included The Collect, Dollar Bill, Scallywag, Star, Ghost, Firechild, Fallacy and Bedlam,
before moving to London in 1998 to study at The London College of Music. Steven moved back here in 2013
and made a guest appearance at the Fallacy reunion gig for the breast cancer charity the singer supports,
after she developed the disease.

The ‘Sky-Vers’ became ‘Beryl and The Sky-Vers’ In 1964 when Beryl joined.
Line up includes Pete Skinner on guitar who went on to form the very popular Grimsby band ‘Umbala’.

The drummer, John Mount was originally the rhythm guitarist but switched to drums early on.
In a effort to increase their repertoire they brought in a very talented vocalist Beryl Harrison.
Guitarists Tony Foad and Pete Skinner later went out as a duo under the name “Silver Shillings”
before Pete skinner formed “Umbala” around 1970.
The ‘Sky-Vers’ became ‘Beryl and The Sky-Vers’ In 1964 when Beryl joined.
Line up includes Pete Skinner on guitar who went on to form the very popular Grimsby band ‘Umbala’.
Sky-Vers: won the third heat of a nationwide competition held in the Mecca. Unfortunately due to
RAF duties they never managed to compete further. They were chosen to be one of the bands playing
the Mecca Ballroom “Teenager’s Night“. They were regulars in Louth Town Hall.
Long after Tony Foad and John Mount had played together in The Sky-Vers John switched from drums
to guitar they got together to become FM Country
Harvest in Harmony
Tony Foad went on to form Harvest in Harmony with Ted Crunkhurn And Kevin Green.
They were a close harmony band, who released a locally produced CD which was
very popular.

The band played together for 13 years, including 6 years summer
seasons Golden Sands Mablethorpe starring and supporting top names.
They supported Des O Connor at the Beachcomber in Cleethorpes and
did alternate wednesdays for a while at the Winter Gardens bags-ball .
Regency did the others nights.
They played clubs up and down the
country from Nottingham/Derby and up to Leeds/Wakefield with
Doncaster and Sheffield in between.
The Railroaders pre Gyros days, from left Sonny Lee rhythm guitar, Bill ? lead guitar,
vocalist Ron Foster before Pat Volley joined, 4th from left Graham ? the drummer ,
Mick ? on bass guitar later replaced by Keith Swinburn aka Alge. Ron Foster was replaced by Pat Volley in early 1961. Bill was replaced by Gordon Smith on lead guitar.
The band changed its name to the Gyros sometime in late 1963.

Sonny Lee and Spam formed the duo Sonny and Spam after the Gyros wound up ,they played at Grimsby clubs for a couple of years.
The Flintones
The Flintones were a band from Malton Yorkshire who played the Grimsby Scunthorpe area in the late fities and early sixties
The 'Flintones' in the late fifties/ early sixties were Drums - John Smith, R/guitar - Bob Brockless, Bass - Paul Farnell and David Wakeley on lead guitar.

David Wakeley (Flintones) recalls playing at Filey Butlins a few times and remember seeing 'Sandra and the Boyfriends' and were very impressed by them. What a good band. We did chat to them in one of the bars and enjoyed their company. I remember the lead guitar player being very good. I have attached two pic one of our band but the one that will interest you is a Butlins photo of myself our bass player and three members of the Boyfriends.
David went on to play in The Dominant 6, then Dominant 7 (sax added).
