Ed Egholm joined the Escorts in 1961 after hearing them practicing at St.Clumbus Youth Club in Pasture Street. Geoff (seagull) Knight, Menphis and Migs were all school mates, all about 15 years old, Ed was a couple of years older and working as an apprentice as a radio engineer, Pete Cowling was an apprentice at Dixon's Paper Mill. They signed up the Don Carrol Agency who found them lots of work. They played most of the local venues, Cafe Dansent, Winter Gardens and local WMC's.
Ed Egholm later got the group, a residency spot at The Greenlands Country Club, were they played on Saturday night for quite a few months. Migs would later leave the band and they changed their name to The Syndicate (1961/63). The guys had a bright yellow Ford Thames van which Memphis very professionally painted the bands name on the sides. The lineup was Geoff Knight on drums, Ed Egholm on vocals, Mars Cowling on bass and Memphis on lead guitar. Pete (Mars) Cowling got his nickname from Mick Mills (vocalist with the nitehawks), he said to Pete," Pete, everytime i see you, you are eating a F***ing Mars Bar, from now on i'm going to call you Mars", the name has stuck with Pete ever since.
The Syndicate later reformed 1962/63 with Mars Cowling on bass , Frank Singleton on lead, Geoff Knight on drums, Steve Mills on vocals, Mars being the only surviving member of the original band the Syndicate.
Ed Egholm was one of the resident vocalists at the Winter Gardens with the Jack Lawton Band between 1966 til 1969. Along with the Illusions, Dad's Army were two of the most popular bands of their time, they were renowned for their fantastic sound, performing numbers by 'Blood Sweat and Tears', Free, Led Zepplin etc. Noel Gale would later take over on vocals when Ed Egholm left the band.
Still Crazy 1987, Paul McGraa formed a bigband with trumpets, saxophones, trumbones, keyboards, drums, bass player, guitars etc, and Ed Egholm on vocals. Among the band members were Richard Pardy, Paul Ellis, Nick Scarrecci,Gordon Smith,Dave Ward plus several other musicans. Paul Ellis wrote the scores for the complete band, many of the band members went on to become noted national musicans. They played at the Spanish Steps in Cleethorpes and the Warehouse in Victoria Street Grimsby.

Dave Gardiner and Ed Egholm formed a duo act called Gemini Duo, which were on the go from 1972 til 1974. They played in clubs and pubs all over the north of England. They performed cover version of the popular songs of the day, and even doing a tap dancing routine which Ed wife had taught them to perform. After the duo split, Dave went on to perform as Daniel Defoe, a well known club act who performs all over Yorkshire and Lincolnshire
The Statesiders 1964, the band consisted of Gordon Smith on lead, Ed Egholm on vocals, Pete Cowling on bass, Howie Gee on drums and Beryl ??? female vocalist. The band was formed with the idea to tour the US Airfoce bases in Germany and Europe. Mars Cowling chucked in his apprenticeship training to join the band. They played their first gig at Foret France at a US Base. Howie Gee left the band after about a month, which left the group without a drummer, Luckily they found a pair of guys from Liverpool who had been part of the backing band for a Liverpool act called 'The Chants', who later became known as 'The Real Thing'. John (Pot) Benson took over on drums and Robbie ??? joined as a guitarist. They changed their name to The Myth and continued touring France and Germany for a further 9 months. Where as most of the british bands played cover version of the popular songs of the day, The Myth played soul and rock n roll music, with a four part harmony on many numbers, this appealed more to the Americans. After returning to Britian the group disbanded, the would later reform minus Gordon and Beryl, and went out as a fourpiece under the name of J C and the Joint in 1966. John (pot) Benson sadly died a couple of years ago.

He was taught music by "Bugsty Walker" and played the school drum kit. He was acknowledged as one of the area's premier drummers at age 14.
One early report of his drumming is at Clee Boys Grammar School during the day/night of the prize giving ball around 1963-4. 'Sweat, Dust and Red Wine' for which Graham had a writing credit. The band appeared on Top Of The Pops and did broadcasts for Radio 1, and in 1971 they released the album 'Deep Feeling'. The group disbanded and Graham went on tour with Leo Sayer.
