Tudor Popescu

PI on a STARS Starting Grant at the Univ. of Padova (2022-4) that investigates cognitive and evolutionary aspects of the music-language relationship. Combining in his work approaches from cognitive neuroscience and computational modelling, his main research interests concern harmonic syntax, musical imagery, and the cultural evolution of music and language.

Tudor is also affiliated with the Cognitive Science Hub at the Univ. of Vienna, where he will be leading the upcoming project "Structure-building in music and language" (FWF grant no. P36215, 2024-7).

Felix Haiduk

Postdoc as part of the same STARS project. He is interested in the evolutionary relation of language and music, and particularly how prediction and predictability in social interaction shape musical features, and how this can lead to culturally transmittable systems.

We are grateful for organisational help from the following UniPd students: Evgenija Kalpakovska, Juan Pablo Pizzeghello, Maryam Jansarvatan, Sophia Diaz.
