(Empowering Smallholder Farmers for a Sustainable Future)
The MUSHPLUS FARMER IMPACT (MFI) is a transformative initiative by MUSHPLUS AGRI-FOODS LIMITED, designed to uplift smallholder oyster mushrooms, soybean, cassava, and vegetable farmers by providing them with the resources, training, and market access needed to improve their livelihoods. As a business committed to reducing postharvest losses and tackling nutrition insecurity, we recognize the critical role of farmers in ensuring food security and sustainability.
With Ghana's smallholder farmers making up 70% of the agricultural workforce but struggling with low yields, postharvest losses, and unstable market prices, this project seeks to create a structured, reliable, and profitable ecosystem for these essential food producers.
By 2050, the project aims to impact at least 25,000 farmers, ensuring sustainable growth and increased incomes for rural communities.
✅ Increase Farmer Productivity: Provide technical training, improved seeds/spawns, and modern farming techniques to enhance oyster mushroom, soybean, cassava, and vegetable yields by at least 40%.
✅ Reduce Postharvest Losses: Introduce innovative processing, storage, and value-addition techniques to cut postharvest losses by 50%.
✅ Ensure Fair & Stable Market Prices: Establish direct purchase agreements, reducing the influence of middlemen and increasing farmer incomes by 30%.
✅ Enhance Sustainability & Climate Resilience: Promote eco-friendly farming methods, including composting agricultural waste and regenerative farming practices to protect the environment.
✅ Strengthen Gender & Youth Participation: Support at least 60% female participation in mushroom farming and encourage youth involvement in agribusiness by creating employment opportunities.
The project will be rolled out in three phases, expanding over time to impact a greater number of smallholder farmers across Ghana.
🔹 Onboard and train 1,500 mushroom and soybean farmers from Ashanti, Eastern, and Bono regions.
🔹 Establish demonstration farms for best agricultural practices.
🔹 Set up storage and processing units to reduce spoilage.
🔹 Expand training centers to Northern and Western regions.
🔹 Develop a mobile platform for farmers to access real-time market prices, weather forecasts, and agronomic tips.
🔹 Strengthen partnerships with local governments and agricultural cooperatives.
🔹 Scale up local and international export production.
🔹 Introduce value-added processing facilities, such as organic mushroom powders, fortified flour, and soybean protein supplements.
🔹 Launch carbon credit and sustainability programs, rewarding farmers for climate-smart practices.
