METAL

Metal is a music genre which originated from hard rock, blues rock, psychedelic rock, and acid rock. It is characterized by highly aggressive rhythms and loud sonorities, obtained through the emphasis, amplification and distortion of the sounds produced by the electric guitar, the bass and even the vocals. There are several styles and sub-genres of metal, from those more melodic and commercial to those characterized by extreme sonorities: avant-garde metal, Christian metal, extreme metal (black metal, death metal, doom metal, thrash metal, speed metal), glam metal, groove metal, Latin metal, symphonic metal. This genre of music was mostly popular during the 1970s and 1980s.

HEAVY METAL

Heavy Metal is a genre of rock which developed in the late 1960s and in the early 1970s in the UK and the USA. It is characterized by aggressive rhythms, violent sounds, the exaltation of electric guitar highest frequencies, often alternating with dark interludes. The texts are sometimes elementary, with symbolic links to satanism. The typical instruments and characteristics of metal are: highly amplified and distorted sounds, extended electric guitar solos, powerful battery sounds, bass sounds that usually reproduces the sounds of the guitar, a lower octave and screaming vocals. Among the greatest heavy metal groups there are: Pantera, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Slayers, Kiss.

BLACK METAL

Black metal is a sub-genre of metal. It represents the extreme aesthetic and musical side of metal. It was born in Scandinavia in the first half of the 1980s. Its sounds derive from trash metal and hardcore punk. The instruments to get black metal sounds are: distorted electric guitar, the drums, the bass and very difficult uninterrupted screaming. One of the most common techniques used in black metal tracks is the "picking tremolo" which consists in picking the strings very quickly in sixteen notes, that is four notes for each beat and consequently sixteen for each beat (this technique suggests that black metal is a genre that requires great musical techniques). Some of the biggest black metal bands are: Darkthrone, Septicflesh, Lamb of God.
