Foreword

In its second edition, the MuSe challenge aimed at pushing the boundaries of integrated audio-visual and textual based sentiment analysis and emotion sensing. It brings together machine learning researchers from signal-oriented audiovisual, and symbolic natural language processing, as well as researchers specifically in the realm of affect/emotion and sentiment.

Programme

The call for participation attracted registrations of 61 academic teams from 16 countries and 47 academic institutions. Besides the papers, the insightful keynotes will guide us to a better understanding of the state of the field, future directions, and the challenges of bringing technology to fruition:

  • Sidney D’Mello is a distinguished researcher at the University of Colorado Boulder focusing on the dynamic interplay between cognition and emotion in complex real-world activities.

  • Panagiotis Tzirakis is paving the way for an ethical, human-centric future for empathic AI, ensuring that as technology gets smarter it remains aligned with unbiased, empathic goals at the NY startup hume.ai.
