As of August, 2024, the Department of music is proud to announce the debut of a new program:
The program includes the following components:
As presented in the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 Undergraduate Bulletins
Required courses (8 credits)
MUS 2800. Intro to Music Business (4) – offered fall 2024
MUS 3800. Music Business (4) – offered spring 2025
Pick three courses from the following: (12 credits)
BUA 2990. Business Communications and Professional Development (4)
MGT 2220. Principles of Management and Organizational Behavior (4)*
MKT 2110. Principles of Marketing and Personal Selling (4)*
BUA 3050. Business Law (4)
ECO 2050. Principles of Microeconomics (4)*
(* = courses required for the Minor in Business Administration)
MUS 2800 and MUS 3800 could both be counted as elective credit within the BA in Music. If you’re not sure about doing the music business concentration, then maybe take MUS 2800 to check it out. It wouldn’t be wasted as it would count as elective credit in your major.
If, in addition to the courses marked with an asterisk above, you also took ACC 2010 (Financial Accounting) and FIN 3010 (Financial Management), then you would satisfy the requirements for not only the Concentration in Music Business, but the Minor in Business Administration as well.
With these, students can complete the BA in Music with a Concentration in Music Business and have a Minor in Business Administration with only 68 credits!
