150th Commemorative print - Russell Frost
As part of our 150th celebrations, we are thrilled to share a beautiful commemorative artwork created especially for Murchison by printmaker Russell Frost – a former Rotoiti and Murchison local, now based in London.
The print has been hand-printed on a historic Albion Iron Hand Press, using antique wooden type – some over 150 years old – in a style inspired by the gold-rush era and the rugged landscapes that shaped our town. Each place name tells a story of gold, rivers, hotels, earthquakes and the people who came before us.
This artwork will be featured on a limited run of tea towels, which will be sold as a fundraiser for our historic theatre.
Even more special… Russell has also gifted us seven original, hand-signed prints. Each one is slightly different and completely unique. These will be raffled and auctioned in the lead-up to the celebrations and during the event itself – including one in a silent auction at the 150th dinner.
