The project aims to study bilingual language development in school age children who are exposed to both Spanish and English. Specifically, the study focuses on the influence of amount of language use, language environment and cognitive factors on the production of literate language features in bilingual school aged children. Literate language features includes use of complex grammatical sentences as well as advanced vocabulary.The findings from the proposed study will contribute to emerging body of literature on bilingual language development and can potentially inform bilingual language assessment.
