Here are four roles you can expect to find at the unconference:

Organizer

The organizer is responsible for:

• organizing the logistics of unconference;
• orienting participants;
• facilitating the session selection process; and
• facilitating the closing discussion.

Session convener

A session convener is a kind of participant. They:

• suggests a session topic and is prepared to describe their proposal to all participants; and
• if a proposed session is selected by unconference participants, the convenor is responsible for holding the session space.

Session collaborator

A Centre for Innovation in Teaching and Learning staff member will be assigned as a session collaborator in each breakout room.

A session collaborator will help the session convenor hold the space of the session. What this looks like will depend on the needs of the session convener, but can help guide the group if needed.

Participant

Participants:

• help select sessions; and
• engage in collaborative and collegial discussions.
