Learning Resource Center

Overview

The Learning Resource Center is the current “Information Power House” through which information found in print and non-print materials, multimedia equipment, and other educational resources are organized and made available for use.

This guide aims to familiarize the users with the organization of the LRC collections and help the students or readers on the proper use of the LRC resources and facilities

 


Collections & Arrangements

To render more effective LRC service, it has been divided into various sections.

-Books on the shelves are arranged according to Dewey Decimal Classification System

· Reference Section– contains the general reference books such as encyclopedias, dictionaries, yearbook, almanacs, atlases and other references in the special subject fields. These materials are for Library use only.

· Circulation Section– contains all fiction and non-fiction books which maybe borrowed from home use.

· Filipiniana Section-contains of books written by Filipino author and those published in the Philippines by foreign authors.

· Audio-Visual Materials-consists of Multimedia materials, slides, transparencies, DVD and CD ROMS.

· Periodicals– consists of journals, magazines, periodicals, newspapers and other serial publications. These materials are for library use only.


 Vertical Files-the vertical file is a collection made up primarily of pamphlets, maps, leaflets, and newspapers and magazines, clippings. They are classified by subject.

· Teacher Resources –contains of teacher’s references (teachers guide, curriculum guide) and other references for teachers.

· Database - a database is an organized collection of information, stored and accessed electronically.

School Library Rules and Regulations

 

1. Observe “Silence” all the times.

2. Keep the library clean .Eating, drinking and littering inside the library are

not allowed.

3. LRC user is expected to use the materials with care and responsibility.

4. Keep things in order. Teachers and students must return all the materials, as well as chairs, tables and other LRC furniture and equipment in its proper place after use.

5. Students are  allowed to borrow at the

 Circulation’s Section  under the following conditions:

-Each student (maximum of (2) books for three days (3), Students may check out (2) Fiction Books for two weeks.

6.Lost damage books must be replaced with the latest edition of the same title.

 

How to borrow books

 

MSHS Learning Resource Center practice the open-shelf system. Borrowers are free to go directly to the shelves and get the books they need. Present the book and your library card to the library staff. Fill up the borrower’s logbook. Wait for the library staff to give you the book you borrowed.

Background: 



E-Library is an advanced project designed to provide E-Service to students and teachers. It was initially conceptualized to continue delivering and serving even during the most trying times. Innovative project like institutionalizing the E-Library (website) where different linkages are offered to MunSci family to stay connected in the realms of education. The MSHS Library is committed to perform its main thrust – make the library the heart of MunSci where students can stay to read, study, and research.




 Objectives:

 

A. To provide recognized DepEd linkages that are accessible to both teachers and learners;

B. To offer supplementary materials that can be used for teaching and researching;

C. To collaborate with different departments, recognized clubs/organization in conducting educational events;

D. To increase the number of student-visitors by offering book-driven programs and other services.
