Privacy Policy

1. Overview

Mum's Assistant is a personal assistant app designed to help mothers manage family life. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why we collect it, and how it's protected.

The short version: we only collect what we need, we never sell your data, and you're always in control.

2. What we collect

Information you provide:

• Your name and the name you give your assistant

• Your children's names, ages, school names and year levels

• Names and phone numbers of people in your delegation network

• Your email address when you connect your email account

• Journal entries you write in the app

• Keywords you choose for email scanning

Information we process temporarily:

• Email content — read in the moment to find family-relevant items, never stored in full

• Voice recordings — transcribed immediately then deleted, only the extracted text is kept

• Screenshots and images — analysed immediately then deleted, only extracted text is kept

Information collected automatically:

• Device push notification token (to send your morning brief notification)

• Anonymous usage data to improve the app

3. What we never collect

• Your email password — authentication is handled directly by your email provider

• Full email content — we only extract relevant items

• Work emails, financial statements or personal correspondence

• Location data

• Payment information

• Data from other apps on your device

• Your children's photos or any images beyond what you explicitly share

4. How your data is stored

• All data is stored securely using Supabase, a trusted cloud database provider

• Data is encrypted in transit and at rest using industry standard protocols

• Your data is completely isolated — no other user can ever access your information

• AI processing is performed by Anthropic Claude (anthropic.com/privacy)

• Voice transcription is performed by OpenAI Whisper (openai.com/privacy)

• App distribution is managed by Expo (expo.dev/privacy)

5. Email scanning

When you connect your email account:

• We only scan emails containing keywords you have chosen

• You can review and approve items before they are added to your brief

• Items you dismiss are remembered and never surfaced again

• We never send emails from your account

• We never share your email content with anyone

• You can disconnect your email at any time from the Settings tab and we will immediately stop scanning

6. Your children's information

• We collect information about children only as provided by the parent or guardian

• Children do not directly interact with or have accounts in this app

• Information about children is used solely to personalise the parent's morning brief

• We never share children's information with third parties

7. Your rights

You have the right to:

• Access — view all your data within the app at any time

• Correct — update your information in the app at any time

• Delete — request deletion of your account and all data by contacting us. We will action this within 7 days.

• Disconnect — remove your email connection at any time from the Settings tab

• Export — request a copy of your data by contacting us

8. Data retention

• Your data is retained while your account is active

• Removed items are kept for 7 days so you can restore them, then permanently deleted

• If you delete your account all data is permanently deleted within 7 days

• Anonymous usage data is retained for up to 12 months

10. Australian Privacy Act

We comply with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles. If you have a privacy concern or complaint please contact us and we will respond within 30 days.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
