بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

ISLAMIC ABBREVIATIONS

  1. SWT (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) - "Glorified and Exalted is He." Used after mentioning Allah.

  2. SAW (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) - "Peace and blessings be upon him." Used after mentioning Prophet Muhammad.

  3. RA (RadiAllahu Anhu/Anha/Anhum) - "May Allah be pleased with him/her/them." Used for the companions of Prophet Muhammad.

  4. AS (Alayhis Salam) - "Peace be upon him." Used after mentioning prophets other than Muhammad.

  5. AA (Azzawajal) - "The Mighty and Majestic." Used when referring to Allah.

  6. AH (After Hijrah) - Refers to the Islamic calendar year after the migration of Prophet Muhammad from Mecca to Medina.

  7. BAS (BarakAllahu Fik) - "May Allah bless you."

  8. BCE (Before Common Era) - Used to denote years before the birth of Jesus, common in Islamic historical texts.

  9. BHT (BarakAllahu Feek) - "May Allah bless you." Another variant of BAS.

  10. BC (Before Christ) - Used to denote years before the birth of Jesus, common in Islamic historical texts.

  11. Bismillah (Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim) - "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful."

  12. DA (Da'wa Allah) - "The call to Allah," referring to Islamic missionary activities.

  13. Dawah (Da'wah) - "The call or invitation to Islam."

  14. DH (Dhul-Hijjah) - The twelfth month of the Islamic calendar.

  15. DUA (Du'a) - "Supplication or prayer."

  16. Eid (Eid al-Fitr/Eid al-Adha) - "Festival." Eid al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, and Eid al-Adha marks the end of Hajj.

  17. EOT (End of Times) - Refers to Islamic eschatology.

  18. FQ (Fiqh) - "Islamic jurisprudence."

  19. FS (Fardh al-Salat) - "Obligatory prayers."

  20. FT (Fitrah) - "Natural disposition" or charity given at the end of Ramadan.

  21. GUS (Ghusl) - "Major ritual washing."

  22. HAD (Hadith) - "Report" or "tradition" regarding the sayings and actions of Prophet Muhammad.

  23. HAJJ (Hajj) - "Pilgrimage" to Mecca, one of the five pillars of Islam.

  24. HAS (Hasanat) - "Good deeds."

  25. HIJ (Hijrah) - "Migration," specifically the migration of Prophet Muhammad from Mecca to Medina.

  26. HJR (Hajra) - "Migration."

  27. HLT (Halal) - "Permissible" according to Islamic law.

  28. HRM (Haram) - "Forbidden" according to Islamic law.

  29. IBN (Ibn) - "Son of."

  30. IC (Islamic Calendar) - The lunar calendar used in Islam.

  31. IF (Iftar) - "Breaking the fast," the meal eaten after sunset during Ramadan.

  32. IH (Ihya) - "Revival" or "bringing to life."

  33. IJT (Ijtihad) - "Independent reasoning" in Islamic jurisprudence.

  34. IK (Ikhlas) - "Sincerity."

  35. ILM (Ilm) - "Knowledge" or "science."

  36. IMA (Iman) - "Faith" or "belief."

  37. IMAM (Imam) - "Leader" in prayer or community leader.

  38. INSH (Insha'Allah) - "If Allah wills."

  39. IQ (Iqaamah) - "The call to commence prayer."

  40. IS (Islamic Studies) - Academic study of Islam.

  41. ISH (Isha) - The night prayer, one of the five daily prayers in Islam.

  42. IT (I'tikaf) - "Retreat" in the mosque for worship, especially during the last ten days of Ramadan.

  43. IV (Israa wa Miraj) - "The Night Journey and Ascension" of Prophet Muhammad.

  44. JAH (Jahannam) - "Hell."

  45. JAL (Jalla Jalaluhu) - "May His Majesty be exalted." Used for Allah.

  46. JAN (Jannah) - "Paradise" or "heaven."

  47. JIH (Jihad) - "Struggle" or "striving" in the way of Allah.

  48. JUM (Jumu'ah) - "Friday" or the Friday prayer.

  49. KA (Kabbah) - "Cube," the sacred building in Mecca.

  50. KH (Khilafah) - "Caliphate" or "succession."

  51. KSA (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) - The country known as the birthplace of Islam.

  52. LAA (La ilaha illallah) - "There is no god but Allah."

  53. MAD (Madinah) - The city of Medina, also known as "The City of the Prophet."

  54. MAG (Maghrib) - The sunset prayer, one of the five daily prayers in Islam.

  55. MAH (Mahdi) - The guided one who is expected to come before the end of the world.

  56. MAS (Masjid) - "Mosque," a place of worship in Islam.

  57. MB (Mubarak) - "Blessed."

  58. MD (Muhammad) - The name of the Prophet.

  59. MH (Mecca) - The holy city of Mecca.

  60. MI (Mihrab) - The niche in a mosque indicating the direction of Mecca.

  61. MIN (Minbar) - The pulpit in a mosque from which sermons are delivered.

  62. MO (Madinah) - Another term for the city of Medina.

  63. MS (Muslim) - A follower of Islam.

  64. NAB (Nabi) - "Prophet."

  65. NAS (Nasihah) - "Advice" or "sincere counsel."

  66. NIF (Nifas) - Postpartum bleeding.

  67. NIQ (Niqab) - A face veil worn by some Muslim women.

  68. NIS (Nisa) - "Women." The title of the fourth chapter of the Quran.

  69. NL (Nabi) - Another term for prophet.

  70. NU (Nur) - "Light."

  71. OBL (Obligatory) - Refers to religious duties required in Islam.

  72. PBUH (Peace Be Upon Him) - Used after mentioning any of the prophets.

  73. PIL (Pillars of Islam) - The five foundational acts of worship in Islam.

  74. PM (Prophet Muhammad) - Refers to Prophet Muhammad.

  75. QAD (Qadar) - "Destiny" or "divine decree."

  76. QAL (Qalb) - "Heart," often used metaphorically for inner spirituality.

  77. QAS (Qasas) - "Stories" or "narratives," the title of the 28th chapter of the Quran.

  78. QD (Qudsi) - "Sacred," referring to Hadith Qudsi, the sayings of Allah as relayed by Prophet Muhammad.

  79. QIB (Qibla) - The direction of prayer towards the Kaaba in Mecca.

  80. QIS (Qisas) - "Retribution" or "legal punishment."

  81. QL (Quranic) - Pertaining to the Quran.

  82. QUR (Quran) - The holy book of Islam.

  83. RAH (Rahmah) - "Mercy."

  84. RAS (Rasul) - "Messenger."

  85. RIBA (Riba) - "Usury" or "interest," which is prohibited in Islam.

  86. RIS (Risalah) - "Message" or "prophethood."

  87. RK (Ruku) - The bowing position in the prayer.

  88. RM (Ramadan) - The ninth month of the Islamic calendar, observed with fasting.

  89. SA (Sadaqah) - "Charity" or "voluntary alms."

  90. SAB (Sabr) - "Patience."

  91. SAD (Sadaqah Jariyah) - "Continuous charity."

  92. SAL (Salah) - "Prayer," one of the five pillars of Islam.

  93. SAM (Sawm) - "Fasting," especially during Ramadan.

  94. SH (Sharia) - "Islamic law."

  95. SHI (Shia) - One of the two main branches of Islam.

  96. SID (Sidq) - "Truthfulness."

  97. SIH (Sihah Sittah) - "The six authentic books" of Hadith.

  98. SLM (Salam) - "Peace."

  99. SUN (Sunnah) - The practices and traditions of Prophet Muhammad.

  100. SUR (Surah) - A chapter of the Quran.

  101. TA (Ta'lim) - "Education" or "instruction."

  102. TAF (Tafsir) - "Exegesis" or "interpretation" of the Quran.

  103. TAH (Tahara) - "Purification."

  104. TAK (Takbir) - The phrase "Allahu Akbar" meaning "Allah is the Greatest."

  105. TAL (Talaq) - "Divorce" in Islamic law.

  106. TAR (Tarawih) - Special prayers performed during Ramadan.

  107. TAW (Tawbah) - "Repentance."

  108. TAX (Tawheed) - "Oneness" of Allah.

  109. TB (Tabi'in) - The generation following the companions of Prophet Muhammad.

  110. TBN (Tabi' al-Tabi'in) - The generation following the Tabi'in.

  111. TFS (Tafsir) - Another term for "exegesis" or "interpretation" of the Quran.

  112. TH (Tawaf) - "Circumambulation" around the Kaaba.

  113. TIB (Tibb) - "Medicine" or "medical knowledge."

  114. TIL (Tilawah) - "Recitation" of the Quran.

  115. TZ (Tazkiyah) - "Purification" of the soul.

  116. UH (Uhud) - Refers to the Battle of Uhud.

  117. UMR (Umrah) - The lesser pilgrimage to Mecca, which can be performed at any time of the year.

  118. UN (Ummah) - The global Muslim community.

  119. USA (United States of America) - Commonly referred to in geopolitical contexts involving Muslim countries.

  120. UW (Uwais) - A companion of Prophet Muhammad known for his piety.

  121. UZ (Uzair) - The prophet Ezra.

  122. VE (Veil) - Refers to the Hijab or other coverings worn by Muslim women.

  123. WA (Wa Alaikum Assalam) - "And upon you be peace," the response to "Assalamu Alaikum."

  124. WAJ (Wajib) - "Obligatory" in Islamic law.

  125. WAL (Wali) - "Friend" or "protector" of Allah; a saint.

  126. WAS (Wasiyyah) - "Bequest" or "will."

  127. WI (Witr) - An odd number of rak'ahs prayed after the Isha prayer.

  128. WL (Wallahu A'lam) - "And Allah knows best."

  129. WO (Wudu) - "Ablution" or "ritual washing" before prayer.

  130. WUQ (Wuquf) - Standing, specifically at Arafat during Hajj.

  131. YAJ (Yajuj wa Majuj) - "Gog and Magog," tribes mentioned in Islamic eschatology.

  132. YA (Yasir) - A common name, also refers to one of the early martyrs in Islam.

  133. YB (Yasin) - The title of the 36th chapter of the Quran.

  134. YH (Yahya) - The prophet John the Baptist.

  135. YUS (Yusuf) - The prophet Joseph.

  136. ZAB (Zabur) - The Psalms given to Prophet David.

  137. ZAD (Zakat al-Fitr) - Charity given at the end of Ramadan.

  138. ZAK (Zakat) - Obligatory almsgiving, one of the five pillars of Islam.

  139. ZAM (Zamzam) - The holy well located in Mecca.

  140. ZB (Zabur) - Another term for the Psalms.

  141. ZH (Zihar) - A form of divorce in pre-Islamic Arabia condemned by Islam.

  142. ZI (Zina) - Adultery or fornication.

  143. ZIK (Zikr) - "Remembrance" of Allah through specific phrases or prayers.

  144. ZUL (Zulm) - "Oppression" or "injustice."

  145. ZUR (Zuriyah) - Descendants or progeny.
