Dr. Min-Teh Yu is a Distinguished Professor of Finance at National Tsing Hua University and holds an honorary University Chair Professorship at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University. He has previously served as a Distinguished Professor of Finance at National Taiwan University. Dr. Yu has held significant leadership roles, including President at Providence University and China University of Technology, Dean of the College of Management at Yang Ming Chiao Tung University and Yuan Ze University, and Department Chair at National Central University. He earned his Ph.D. in Economics from Ohio State University and his B.A. from National Taiwan University. From 1997 to 1998, he was a Visiting Professor of Finance at Drexel University.
Dr. Yu's teaching and research focus on the risk management of financial institutions and derivatives markets. His work has been published in leading journals across multiple fields, including insurance, finance, accounting, and operations management. According to Google Scholar, Dr. Yu’s scholarly contributions have been cited over 1,800 times. He has been recognized as a Top 0.5% Scholar by ScholarGPS in the areas of Insurance and Pacific Ocean studies. In addition, Dr. Yu serves as an associate editor for more than 10 academic and trade journals across banking, finance, and insurance disciplines.
Dr. Yu has served as a consultant for the U.S. Congressional Budget Office and the Asian Development Bank. He has received numerous grants and awards, including the Distinguished Research Award from the National Science Council, the Distinguished Teaching Award from the Ministry of Education, and the MacKay Canadian Studies Faculty Research Award. Dr. Yu has also held trustee positions at Fu-Jen Catholic University, Providence University, St. Mary College of Nursing and Management, and Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages. In 2010, he was honored with the Benemerenti Medal by Pope Benedict XVI.
In addition to these roles, Dr. Yu has served as President of the Taiwan Risk and Insurance Association, President of the Taiwan Financial Engineering Association, and a Board Director for the Taiwan Finance Association.
