ANNOUNCEMENT
The fifth edition of the Mathematics Training for Undergraduate Statistics Students Programme (MTUSS 2025) will be conducted at Aliah University, Kolkata, from 3rd to 18th October 2025. This programme is modelled on the Mathematics Training and Talent Search (MTTS) initiative of the National Board of Higher Mathematics (NBHM) and has previously been held successfully in Vijaywada in 2019 after in Kolkata during 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019.
AIM
The programme aims to provide intensive training in selected areas of undergraduate Mathematics that are fundamental to understanding key concepts in Statistics. It is designed to strengthen students’ mathematical foundations, nurture independent analytical thinking, and encourage deeper appreciation of statistical theory rather than preparing them for admission tests.
The following topics of undergraduate Mathematics are proposed to be covered:
Set Theory & Foundations
(Real) Analysis
Linear Algebra
Combinatorics & Probability
Programming in R/Python
