How do I get involved with the PTO?

I work full time- can I still join?

Of course! All current members of our PTO team work full time. While certain things do take place during school hours, there are still a lot of ways to get involved outside of those hours or help without requiring you step foot inside the school regularly.

Do I have to actually be on the PTO to help?

No! See some of the examples outlined below of the types of action that goes a long way. If you're still unsure, contact us and we're more than happy to brainstorm ways you can get involved. Most of our help comes from people not on our PTO Executive Board.

There are so many ways to get involved with the PTO! Choose what works best for your family and your schedule. Every bit of help we get means A LOT and it's the only way we're able to do the amazing things we do for our Marshall Hornets.

Volunteer at an Event: We are always looking for volunteers to help plan or run parts of our events. Maybe your schedule makes it hard to consistently be involved- volunteering for an event helps us with one of our biggest needs while only taking a small portion of your time. It can be a win-win for everyone if your busy schedule is getting in the way of other types of involvement. Check out our Upcoming Events page to see where we could use the help.
Attend Monthly PTO Meetings: Every month the PTO holds a meeting where we share updates on our events, relay important school information, give opportunities for you to share your feedback, give PTO budget updates, and so much more. We encourage you to attend in person if you're able but we also always make sure to have a Google Meet going so you can join us online too! We want to make sure as many people can join as possible, even if sports, sickness, and other things get in the way of attending in person. Those in attendance get entered into a drawing for an Amazon gift card. Check out our list of PTO meetings for the year and get meeting links if attending online.
Join a Committee for a Specific Event or Project: Maybe you can't fit it in your schedule to always attend something on a certain day but you have a passion for one of our projects. Feel free to reach out and see where you can get involved.

Donate Items: Throughout the year there are tons of items needed by the PTO, classrooms, or after school clubs. Donating a much needed item goes a long way to support our students and staff!
Share Our Info with Others: Sometimes the greatest help comes from someone forwarding on one of our Facebook posts to a friend who can help, connecting us with someone in the community, or helping to promote our events.

For parents & guardians of current Marshall students:

Become a PTO Liaison: Help the Executive Board make ideas come to life, help conduct some projects and committees outlined by the Executive Board, sign up for a few of our committees, and assist wherever possible.
Get a Spot on our PTO Executive Board: Every April and May the PTO opens nominations for spots on our PTO Executive Board with positions of President*, Co-President*, Vice President, Co-Vice President, Treasurer, Co-Treasurer, Secretary, and Co-Secretary available. Hold regular meetings, be the primary contact for others to communicate to the PTO, help organize and oversee event committees and PTO projects, and a whole lot more. Contact our PTO if you have questions about specific duties for any of our Executive Board positions.
