The Keep MTPG Welcoming Pillar is a group of neighbors who focus their attention to neighborhood events, welcome messaging and gifts and other activities that promote and foster community.
The Montclair Free Little Pantry was started by a Montessori Teacher at Montclair Elementary, Mrs. Harman, several years ago. It is lovingly tended by the teachers, staff, and families of Montclair Elementary School and the West Omaha Masonic Center and other community members. Many teachers encourage their students to bring items to school and then students bring the items to the pantry during their recess. It stands in the West Omaha Masonic Center parking lot and serves families, senior citizens and the community of Montclair in West Omaha, Nebraska. Funding for the pantry was generously provided by an Ursula Thrush Peace Seed Grant, sponsored by the American Montessori Society. This is a hidden gem that many of our neighbor’s might not know about.
According to an article in Better Homes and Gardens, some of the most popular items for Free Little Pantries include: peanut butter, canned soups, children’s snacks, baby food, toilet paper, and hygiene products. If you are able to donate items to the pantry, we encourage you to do so. If you or someone you know is ever in need of food, please feel free to use this resource and share with others.
We are also fortunate to have the Hope Pantry at Rejoice Lutheran Church located in our neighborhood at 2556 S 138th St. The pantry is open on Tuesdays 12:00 - 3:00 p.m and the last Saturday of each month 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. No identification is required.
