To understand the experiences of these menstrual tracking app users in Aotearoa New Zealand, we will conduct participatory research with users from three life-stage cohorts:
16- to 18-year-olds,
post-natal, and
perimenopausal.
Data collection is completed for the post-natal and perimenopause cohort. We are currently recruiting participants who are 16-18 years old.
- People of colour
- Disabled users
- People with chronic health conditions
- Trans people and sexually or gender diverse people /takatāpui
- Ethnic minorities
- Indigenous people/wāhine Māori
- People who have experienced weight stigma, have larger bodies, or who self-identify as fat
- Those using the apps for reasons outside of fertility
- Those involved in related political activism e.g., feminists, period action
* in recognition of mātauranga māori framing of menstruation as tapu and women’s role as whare tāngata.
Please note, Māori only groups will be facilitated in 2024.
