Dr. Carla Parra Escartín - Dublin City University / ADAPT Centre
Carla is a Marie Skłodowska Curie fellow within the EDGE MSCA COFUND project in the School of Applied Language and Intercultural Studies at Dublin City University. She is also a member of the Centre for Translation and Textual Studies and the cross-institutional research centre ADAPT.
Her current research focuses on the impact of Machine Translation in professional translation workflows as well as on other users of Machine Translation. Her research interests include as well translation technologies, translation quality and ethical and legal issues in research activities. Before joining DCU she was a postdoctoral researcher in a Spanish translation company. She obtained her PhD at the University of Bergen, Norway. In it, she focused on German nominal compounds and their translations into Spanish from a Natural Language Processing perspective.
Dr. Sharon O'Brien - Dublin City University / ADAPT Centre
Sharon is a Associate Professor in translation and language technology in the School of Applied Language and Intercultural Studies, Dublin City University.
Her research to date has focused on the interaction between translators and technology (including Translation Memory and Machine Translation), cognitive aspects of translation, research methods, including eye tracking and keyboard logging, localisation and content authoring. She is Director of the Centre for Translation and Textual Studies (www.ctts.dcu.ie) and a funded investigator in the cross-institutional research centre ADAPT. She previously worked as a language technology specialist in the localisation industry.
Dr. Michel Simard - National Research Council of Canada
Michel has been working in Machine Translation for 25 years. He is a researcher at the National Research Council of Canada where he works in the team devoted to Multilingual Text Processing.
His research focuses primarily on computer assisted translation tools and new applications of Machine Translation.
Dr. Marie-Josée Goulet - Université du Québec en Outaouais
Marie-Josée is an Associate Professor in language studies at the Université du Québec en Outaouais (UQO). She teaches professional writing.
She is an associated researcher at Cilex and a member of the research group CompéTICA. Her research focuses on the use of computer tools for writing.
