1. Read the directions to everyone. Discuss the directions with the group in your own words.
2. Ask: Does everyone understand the assignment? If someone doesn't, discuss it with them. If the whole group is confused, ask Ms. Y.
3. Start the group on the activity.
4. Make sure everyone understands and is on task with the other members. *If not, get Ms. Y.
5. Once the activity is finished, review the work with your group members using the grading criteria. (rubric and checklist)
Listen to your group members carefully.
Record the answers on paper, chart paper, or the white board depending on the assignment.
Make sure you include everyone's voice and ideas.
If someone is not participating, insist they share an idea to contribute to the group.
Determine the amount of time your group will need for each section of the assignment.
Set the timer for your group.
Remind your group about the time every five minutes.
Express urgency if your group is not moving fast enough to beat the timer.
Think of questions to ask about the assignment as everyone is working.
Make sure your group members are pushing their thinking. Ask: How/Why questions
2. Listen respectfully by acknowledging all voices.
3. Look at your group members. Track the speaker.
4. One person at a time, speaks.
5. Pose questions to help your group members think.
6. Use accountable talk stems while speaking and writing if you get stuck or want to expand your thoughts.
7. Pull everyone into the conversation by asking them what they think.
8. Take notes.
9. Complete the assigned written activity and stay on task.
10. Revise your ideas.
11. Keep track of time.
