I have the necessary passion, dedication and qualifications to help your district achieve academic excellence and to nurture the physical, social and mental well-being of your students, whether the learning environment is in the classroom, or it is through distance learning. I believe all students have the potential to learn and be successful in the school environment and it is the responsibility of the teacher to support that growth with engaging lessons, a positive and safe learning environment, appropriate support and accommodations, research-based instructional strategies and a love for learning and learners. I hold a Preliminary Multiple Subject Teaching Credential (SB2042) with AB1059 English Learner Authorization and a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of California, Irvine. Throughout my teaching career, I have had the opportunity to teach 2nd and 6th grade, provide reading intervention to 1st-3rd graders, redesign and implement a reading intervention program for distance learning, oversee a district-based after school program of ~80 students, as well as taught as a substitute teacher and instructional assistant.
My passion for education stems from the belief that all students should be nurtured and enabled to be successful in tomorrow’s world. This includes the whole child, focusing on not only their academic success, but also their social, emotional and physical well-being as well as their character and values. I believe the classroom environment should be student-centered, providing students with opportunities to construct their understanding through Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI) tasks, classroom discourse, partner and group work, technology integration based off of the SAMR model and differentiation to support all students, including English Language Learners and students with varied ability levels. I also believe in the importance of utilizing the funds of knowledge and assets the students and their families bring to the classroom. Additionally, I believe formative assessments and data should drive instruction related decisions and should be used for learning, rather than solely of learning. In addition to my teaching experience, I have also spent 10 years working in business and management, where my focus was spent on training and hiring new staff and managing and organizing the operations of the business. The years spent in these roles have allowed me to develop the skills necessary to be a meaningful and inspired contributor to the school site and district by maintaining high levels of organization, planning and working collaboratively on a team.
Thank you for visiting!
Sincerely,
