Intervention & After School Program Teacher – Roosevelt Elementary/Pomona USD (August 2019 – Present)

Reading Intervention Teacher

• Provided differentiated reading instruction focusing on foundational skills using SIPPS (Systematic Instruction in Phonological Awareness, Phonics, and Sight Words) Intervention to my 1^st – 3^rd grade students.
• Used data to create groupings, monitor progress, adjust instruct and communicate with my principal and the classroom teachers regarding my students’ progress and areas of support.
• Re-designed, developed and implemented a reading intervention program for distance learning, using Google Classroom, SeeSaw, Screencastify and Zoom.
• Communicated with parents throughout distance learning in order to work collaboratively with them to ensure their student was learning and getting as much as possible out of the new e-learning environment.

After School Program Teacher

• Ran all aspects of the after-school program at my school site, consisting of ~80 K-5 students. Adhered to all grant requirements such as record keeping, compliance, communications and supervisory tasks.
• Created a fun, safe and engaging environment for students to work on homework, eat a nutritious meal, participate in physical activity and engage in enrichment activities focused on socio-emotional learning (SEL).
• Supervised and mentored tutors by providing classroom management strategies, lesson plan ideas and feedback, as well as support in behavior management, focusing on restorative justice practices and PBIS.
• Communicated with the Program Administrator, the Principal and parents in regards to program activities, staff and/or student information, parent events and compliance.
• Piloted WINGS, a socio-emotional learning (SEL) program and facilitated the integration of outside activities such as Girl Scouts, Kids Code and ASISA.

Summer School Teacher – Roosevelt Elementary/Pomona USD (May 2020 – June 2020)

• Provided small group literacy intervention for incoming 1^st-3^rd graders through daily Zoom calls and SeeSaw activities.
• Communicated with parents at least twice per week regarding student progress and any important updates.
• Collaborated in PLC summer groups in order to learn from one another and improve our practice.

Student Teacher

2^nd Grade – Woodbury Elementary/Irvine USD (January 2019 – June 2019

6^th Grade – Killybrooke Elementary/Newport Mesa USD (September 2018 – December 2018)

• Provided differentiated instruction to support my diverse learners (students with IEPs, advanced learners, English Language Learners) and tap into their multiple intelligences.
• Used daily formative assessments such as exit tickets, Plickers and anecdotal notes and other data in order to monitor student learning and adjust my instruction to meet the needs of my students.
• Designed research-based activities for students to enhance their reading fluency and comprehension during Response to Invention (RTI) reading groups as well as incorporated Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI) and rich tasks into the mathematics instruction in order to develop the conceptual understanding of my students, encourage students to become flexible thinkers and create a discourse community.
• Integrated technology such as Core 5, Raz Kids, Google Suite, FlipGrid, etc., into the classroom on a daily basis in order to enhance student learning and engagement by redefining the lessons.
• Collaborated with the grade level team through Professional Learning Community (PLC) meetings and the larger school community.

Substitute Teacher – Irvine USD (January 2019 – June 2019)

• Provided small group and whole class instruction based on the direction given by the classroom teacher.
• Created a safe, positive and student-centered learning environment for all students. Upheld the school values, protocols and procedures.

Extended Learning Teacher – Woodbury Elementary/Irvine USD (January 2019 – May 2019)

• Taught an after-school reading program for the Primary SEI group (2^nd and 3^rd grade) in which the students worked on activities tailored to their ability and readiness levels using Lexia’s Core 5.
• Used small group instruction in order to focus on comprehension activities related to what we read that day, and skill practice to improve reading fluency.

Instructional Assistant – Woodbury Elementary School/Irvine USD (October 2017 – June 2018)

• Supported students in a 1st grade classroom by pulling students out as needed, working one-on-one with certain students, instructing small groups and assisting within the whole class environment.
• Supported the SEI students during the strategic RTI reading group rotations and I pulled a small group of students that needed extra support in math, spelling, foundational reading skills and English language development (ELD).
