Read the first 4 pages of historically significant events in your package.

Rome - a Synopsis

Today we finished watching "The Entire History of Rome" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PV3r6BINlsM (we are only watching to 33 mins, not the full 44).

Then we did a collective brainstorm on what we know & have learned about Rome.
Then we watched Crash Course World History about Rome and completed a short quiz.

For Homework, students were given some optional Rome crossword/wordsearch activities. Have a great weekend everyone! 

September 16th

Rome - a Brief Overview

Today we had a little "get to know you" donut party and continued learning more about Rome. Students completed some worksheets on Rome and then we started watching this video as an overview of Rome.

Students will complete the last 10 minutes of the video and we will go over the worksheets on Friday. 

Then they will have a brief quiz on Rome (in which they are allowed to use hand-written notes). 

September 14th

Class Expectations & Intro to the Dark Ages

As a class we talked about kindness, patience, hard work, diligence & personal responsibility in learning (both for students and the teacher). 

Our class outlined the following basic principles for students & teachers:

Give students first hand experiences

Teacher should teach!!!

Student shouldn’t use label on anyone

We then dialogued through what we know about history and how we can understand the Dark ages. We had a very brief introduction to the middle ages but focused primarily on setting the stage for our class (what the Roman Empire was all about and how we can understand it's fall).
