Laws can maintain the status quo and can also be a force for change.
A society’s laws and legal framework affect many aspects of people’s daily lives.
Laws are interpreted, and these interpretations may evolve over time as a society’s values and worldviews change.
If you missed class, or you've lost resources, you'll find some copies here! It is here that you will be able to find brief reminders about homework, digital copies of many assignments and whole host of other course material.

Presentations for the History of Law Project started today. Please find the group presentations recorded below. All groups need to email me their presentations prior to the start of Thursday's class: ksteblin@sd38.bc.ca (remaining groups will present Tuesday Sept 29th)

Students continued preparing their presentations for their History of Law Project. Presentations for that project will be on Thursday September 24th. All groups need to email me their presentations prior to the start of Thursday's class: ksteblin@sd38.bc.ca

Today students did a brief reading quiz on the article by Rushworth Kiddier.
Then they were introduced to a "History of Law" group project.

We discussed "Common Decency" and where we get our morality.
Then students did a quick reflection activity helping them identify their own perspectives about morality & where their morals come from.
Then they had a the first half of a lecture on "The Law in our Lives"
For Homework Students should finish reading & taking hand-written notes on Rushworth Kiddier's article "The Ethics of Right Versus Right."

Students were given an initial introduction to the textbook as they attempted to identify all the instances where a scenario "Laws are Everywhere" highighted activities that could involve the Law.
We then watched the Trolly Problem video & discussed individual morality vs the law.
