Your Unit 1, Chapter 1 Study Guide will be sent home. The readings you need are included directly in the study guide, so you do not need your Student Reader at home. Complete every section and use it to prepare for the test.
📝 UNIT 1, CHAPTER 1 TEST

⭐ A-Day Classes — Tuesday, September 1
Do not wait until the night before the test to study! Review your study guide, vocabulary, important people, major events, and Washington’s precedents.

This week, we are wrapping up Chapter 1: George Washington’s Presidency & Precedents!
We will review how the new United States government took shape under President George Washington. By the end of the week, you should be able to explain:
How George Washington established important presidential precedents
The purpose of Washington’s Cabinet and the first executive departments
The major disagreements between Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson
How those disagreements contributed to the development of political parties
Why the Whiskey Rebellion was an important test of the new federal government
The contributions of Benjamin Banneker to the planning of Washington, D.C.
The major warnings and advice Washington gave Americans in his Farewell Address
How Washington’s presidency helped shape the role of future presidents
Our Goal: 🧠 I can use evidence from Chapter 1 to explain how George Washington and the new federal government established precedents that shaped the United States.
