Welcome!!!

I hope that you are as excited as I am about starting this school year. In order to have a successful year, we need to go over some basic rules and expectations.

Class rules:

  • Students will follow all school rules
  • Students will be respectful of each other and the
  • teacher
  • Technology will be used appropriately at all times
  • Students will have materials and be ready to learn
  • everyday

Technology Policies

# 1. Students are expected to have their technology charged at all times. A class set of Chromebooks is available for those without it.

  • #2. Students will use their technology appropriately during class. No games, music, or personal messaging will be tolerated unless given permission.
  • #3. Students will follow the school's technology policy. Please reference school technology policy for guidelines.

Reading:

In order to become a fluent reader, a student must read every day. To maintain their reading level, a student must read 30 minutes a day. To raise that level, they must read even more. Practice is the key. Therefore, your student’s homework every night will be to read at least 30 minutes in the book s/he has been given to read in class. We will be using an online program for Reading - A-Z & Istation. While students may bring books from home or the city library, we also will be going to the Hedrick library so they can check out books or renew a current selection. I have a library in my classroom to provide students with yet another source of books. Students are to bring their ipad to school every day. This is part of their grade. Parental guidance works best with each student for book content and subject matter, so please take an active interest in what your student is reading.

Grading and Homework:

Science:

  • Minor grades: Minor grades will include any homework, daily work, quizzes, and warm ups. These grades make up 40% of your grade.
