Proteins are organic molecules made of long chains of 20 different amino acids, the sequence of which is coded by the individual organism's DNA.
The SEQUENCE of amino acids determines STRUCTURE which determines the FUNCTION of the protein.
Proteins serve a large variety of functions, including structure, transpsort and defense.
Examples: Structural components in cells, antibodies, enzymes, messenger proteins (hormones), transport proteins (channel proteins, hemoglobin, etc...)
