Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to the exciting world of Kindergarten! We are thrilled to have your child as part of our class this year. This page is designed to give you important information about our classroom and ways you can support your child’s learning and growth throughout the year.
Classroom Overview:
In Kindergarten, we focus on building a strong foundation for academic and social skills. Our curriculum includes early literacy, math, science, social studies, and fine motor development, all taught through play-based learning and hands-on activities. We also emphasize the development of positive social skills, such as sharing, problem-solving, and teamwork.
Daily Schedule:
Our daily routine includes a mix of structured learning and playtime. Here is a brief overview:
Morning Meeting – Greetings, calendar time, weather, and daily routines.
Literacy Time – Phonics, reading, and writing activities.
Math Time – Hands-on activities to develop early math skills.
Snack & Recess – Time for a healthy snack and outdoor play.
Story Time – Listening to stories to build comprehension and vocabulary.
Creative Time – Art, music, and exploration through play.
Closing Circle – End-of-day review, sharing, and preparation for dismissal.
Classroom Rules:
To help create a positive learning environment, we focus on three key rules:
Be Kind. Use kind words and actions with classmates and teachers.
Be Safe. Keep your hands and feet to yourself and listen to adults.
Be a Helper. Share, clean up, and help each other out.
Communication:
Clear and open communication is key to a successful year! Here’s how we’ll stay connected:
Weekly Newsletters: Sent home every Friday to keep you updated on classroom activities and upcoming events.
Parent-Teacher Conferences: Held twice a year to discuss your child's progress.
Classroom Website/Apps: We may use an app (e.g., Seesaw) to share pictures and updates from the classroom.
Messages and Notes: Feel free to send in a note or email if you have any questions or concerns. I am always happy to chat!
Parent Involvement:
We love having parents involved in the classroom! Here are some ways you can participate:
Volunteer: Help out during special activities or events in the classroom.
At-Home Support: Reading with your child every day helps build literacy skills and foster a love for books.
Classroom Supplies: Donations of tissues, hand sanitizer, or craft supplies are always appreciated.
Join in Events: Participate in school events like back-to-school nights, field trips, or holiday parties!
Important Reminders:
Arrival & Dismissal: Please ensure your child arrives on time, and be sure to let me know if someone else will be picking them up. If there are any changes to the pick-up routine, kindly inform me in advance.
Snacks & Lunch: Please send a healthy snack and lunch with your child each day. If your child has any food allergies, please inform me.
Dress Comfortably: Kindergarten is a place for learning and playing, so please make sure your child wears comfortable clothes and shoes that are easy to move in.
Special Notes:
Birthdays: We love celebrating birthdays in class! If you'd like to bring a treat to share, please coordinate with me ahead of time.
Health & Absences: If your child is sick or will be absent, please notify the school as early as possible. If your child needs medication, please make arrangements with the school nurse.
Goals for the Year:
Develop early literacy and math skills through hands-on learning.
Build strong social-emotional skills, including cooperation, self-regulation, and empathy.
Foster a positive attitude toward learning and curiosity about the world.
Thank you for being an important part of your child’s educational journey. We are looking forward to a fantastic year together! If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out.
