Acting sessions are performance focused, and can include scene study, character work, monologues, and more. Acting sessions can be offered at the beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels, and are open to a full range of age levels, from pre-K to adult. Acting sessions have a maximum of 16 students, and can be offered as private lessons.
Improvisation is the art of making things up on the spot! Improvisation sessions include exploring techniques, as well as learning and practicing improvisation games. Offered for students aged 10+, Improvisation sessions need a minimum of 4 participants, up to a maximum of 16.
Love Book Clubs? Then you'll love Play Reading! Play Reading sessions allow students to practice reading out loud, and prompts discussion about the themes and events of the play. Videos of film or stage productions can be incorporated when available. I can choose the play, or you can! Play Reading classes need a minimum of 4 participants, up to a maximum of 26. Open to ages 12+, this offering functions best as a series of sessions, allowing the group to get through a full play - however, it can be offered as a single discussion session if participants will have read the play in advance.
Play Reading, but for Musicals! In a Musical Theater Literature session, we will read, listen and watch clips from Musicals, and explore and discuss what makes these musicals successful. Music theory and instrumentation, performance, movement, and thematic analysis all come together in these sessions! Offered for ages 12+, Musical Theater Literature sessions need a minimum of 4 participants, up to a maximum of 26. Sessions can focus on one musical, or a selection of musicals following a certain genre, performer/creator, or time period.
Creative Movement Storytelling uses picture books to bring the foundations of movement and music to young children! Creative Movement Storytelling takes books such as Giraffes Can't Dance, Pete the Cat and the Cool Cat Boogey, and Brown Bear, Brown Bear, and combines them with music and movement activities to allow participants to act out the story and explore physically how the characters would move and feel. Creative Movement Storytelling sessions are offered for ages 3-5, and have a maximum of 10 participants.
If you're looking for community building options, this is your program! Theater Games are all about connection, focus, and fun. In these sessions, I will lead a series of interactive games, which can be tailored to the particular goals of your group. From parties to youth enrichment to professional development, Theater Games offer something for everyone! Theater Games are great for a singular session, but can also work as a short series. Sessions are open to a full range of age levels, from pre-K to adult, and require at least 8 participants, up to a maximum of 26. (Larger groups may be accommodated on request.)
Do you have a play or musical coming up, and would like to offer a workshop for actors or audience to explore the themes of the play? I can develop that for you! Workshops can range from 30 minutes to 2 hours, and combine games, discussion, play analysis, and more to dig deep into the themes of a particular work. As these workshops are developed specifically for the chosen play, they are fully customizable to your goals! Workshops can be tailored to any age range and number of participants, and created to be shared before or after experiencing the show, depending on your preference.
