Technology for Teaching

As a fairly new educator who started teaching during the pandemic, I have come to realize the various ways in which technology has enhanced my classroom and instruction. It has offered me a multitude of outlets for engaging different types of learners in art analysis and art making during a time when our creative processes are stagnated.  A lot of hands on instruction is filtered out in distance learning, however it presents opportunities to learn about the art of technology. We can now learn how to manipulate imagery using photoshop and other tools, create digital artwork, and build a strong digital portfolio all from the comfort of our homes. These unprecedented times in education have taught me to be a more flexible, compassionate educator that adapts to her environment and provides her students with tools and skills they will use in their future careers even if it may not involve creating palpable artwork. Portfolio building, image manipulation, visual recognition of  elements of art and design, construction of presentations, as well as ability to weed out poor sources from credible ones are all essential skills to possess, especially for students who plan to continue pursuing their education, which I strive to prepare them for.
