My goal to teach at a Catholic School Board derives from my personal experiences as a student in the Dufferin Peel Catholic School Board. Similarly to my pervious educators I want to guide students on their journey through our faith, and foster a caring Christian community of empathy, compassion and love. Additionally, I strongly agree with the Ontario Catholic School Graduate Expectations and believe that all students should strive to achieve these expectations in their classrooms, school, and church communities.
I promote the Catholic School culture by encouraging active participation in the sacramental life, prayer and rituals of the Catholic Church within my community. I also model the Catholic Graduate Expectations. I am an active member of my church community, who leads children through the word of God, sacrament and prayer. I also demonstrate my commitment to being a life long learner through being a reflective practitioner who remains curious and open minded.
In the past I have worked with different teachers and organized virtue assemblies for the school community. In the future I hope to continue being an active participant in virtue assemblies, as well as promote and develop school programs and events that encourage the Catholic school culture. Some of these event and program may include: donating food, clothing, toys, volunteering at old age homes, shelters or soup kitchens, and planting trees, or picking up trash.
I plan on continuing to grow as a Catholic teacher by enrolling in Religious AQ courses and continuing to be an active member of my church community by leading children’s liturgies. I would also like to develop more relationships with teachers, administrators, community members and pastors who can provide my students and I with more information and perspectives on our Catholic faith.
