My first impression of Barcelona is that it isn't exactly what I thought it would be. I thought that every single building would be colorful and mosaics would be everywhere. This is true in some parts, but not in the area of the school or where my host family lives. Honestly, it is more similar to places in the United States than I initially thought it would be. There are so many beautiful mountains here and the view is amazing. We haven't had much time to explore yet with the long school days and getting to know our host families. However, this week we are making it our mission to see all the beautiful things Barcelona has to offer.
My first impression of the school is that it is HUGE. I've gotten lost quite a few times but I am slowly figuring out how to navigate through the large building. The students and staff are so kind and willing to help whenever I need it. I did not realize how well some of the students would be able to speak English already. That was certainly a relief!

Over the weekend, we finally had time to really explore and see the city of Barcelona. To the left is a picture of the Magic Fountain light and music show. The Magic Fountain of Montjuïc's first performance was in 1929 during the Great Universal Exhibition. The Magic Fountain is a brilliant display of color, light, motion, music, and water acrobatics. This is one of my favorite things I have seen so far in Barcelona.
