NOW accepting mentor and mentee applications for the 2024 - 2025 school year.
The Mentorship Program committee is currently accepting applications from district educators. It is our belief that early career educators have the support necessary to start a positive, professional career successfully. Therefore, mentees have an opportunity to work with a highly qualified, exemplary mentor professional who has a desire to support the early career educator.
New early career educators who will enter their second or third year of the education profession, are new to the Matanuska Susitna Borough School District, or who experience a significant change in grade level or content, are eligible to work with a mentor.
Mentee Application Process
The mentee application process is an opportunity for the mentee to share prior learning experiences, specific needs, and additional information for the Mentorship Committee to ensure the best mentor is matched for professional support. Mentees must submit a completed application that includes: MSEA mentee application and a current resume. Only completed mentee packages will be reviewed.
Mentee Selection Process
All mentee applicants will be connected with a mentor while funding is available. The Mentorship Committee anticipates funding available to support ninety (90) mentees during the 2023 - 2024 school year. Mentees will be notified by Dr. Annette Durbin on or before August 1, 2023 regarding who their mentor will be for the school year.
Mentee Requirements
The MSEA mentee application is for MSEA members (teachers, nurses, librarians, counselors, SSS, etc) who wish to apply to work with a MSEA mentor. Minimum requirements are as follows:
